All depends in what field you want to specialise in?
There are so many jobs out there that ask for a basic GCSE English and Mathematics grade C or above.. so it would be useful.
You can do it in the evenings at a local college, so it doesn't affect your work

Well if you want a better career then GCSE's are a waste of time at you age, because they are not worth much - all GSCE's do is show that someone has completed their secondary school education, and allow school leavers to go on to take A-Levels. At your age, if you want to take a new career path you are better off deciding on what you want to go in to and then taking a course. For instance if you wanted to become a plumber you could go back to college and do a plumbing course as you do not need GCSE's. If however you wanted to pursue a career in say business you could go back to college and do an Access course (no qualifications required). Upon passing the course you can then go to university. A university degree is much more valuable!
I have just noticed your additional details. If what you want to go into just requires GCSE's then yes go back and sit your GCSE's. As this is less time consuming.

It does depend a lot on what you want to do next. Some people reckon getting your gcse's in english and maths are essential whatever you want to do however, some say there is much more benefit to the 'mature' person in gaining vocational qualifications like nvq's that show you are good at a particular kind of work. Have you contacted Learn Direct or popped into your local Job Centre Plus? Both will point you in the right direction of some good career's advice that is suitable for what you want to do.

That decision really depends on what you intend to achieve by doing them.
I personally never did any good at them 13 years ago.
At the moment I am refreshing my skills so that I can study for my GCSE's in September.
Two reasons; one is that i will feel better to have them anyway cause I'll be proving to myself that i can do it. Two but the main reason is that i am wanting to go back to Uni to study Psychology but i am not eligible without my Maths and English GCSE's and then i have to do a Science foundation course for a year.
Goal is that i should be eligible for Uni in 2 years so it will definitely be worth it, ones gotta do what ones gotta do.
I hope my advice helps in some way, wishing you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do.

Find out what is required of you in the field you want to go into. Then you won't waste your time if the job doesn't require them.
Everyone says GSCEs are easier now than at the time when you would normally have taken them but don't be fooled - they're probably just as hard for those who are taking them as they take into account the curriculum the pupils have been taught.
Good luck!

Taking your GCSE's is never a bad idea. Once you've tken then they will give you an idea of what you want to od and waht type of further studies you want to take. However if you do decide to go for them i cannot over emphasise that you take science, maths and english as you really can't do much without them. Yes you can do stuff without them although is would drastically limit your options.
Good luck.

Depends on what you want to change career to. A levels might be a better bet, have a look at the evening classes at your local college. They will also be more than happy to chat to you on the phone or face to face about what your capabilities are now and where you would like to be in the future, this will enable them to advise you about what courses would be most helpful to you.

There may be more suitable qualifications or training that you can take. You should have a career path in mind before you start doing any qualifications or training.

There is no point of not taking your GCSEs. Youve got nothing to loose. If you pass your exams then you're on your way to a great job, and if you dont then its just like you didnt take them, and you can always try and resit them.
