Hmm...
Some new concepts of Lucifer's heritage coming out here, that I've never heard before. He was a jinn? Alllrighty then.
My understanding has always foundered a little on the point of rebellion. I've always understood that angels had no free will, but then that raises the question of Lucifer and the rebellion in Heaven. Firstly, how was he so special that he had the creativity to inspire doubt, discontent and rebellion in angels? I understand there are groups who believe he was the firstborn "son" of God. Which would certainly explain why he felt the right to challenge for the throne (after all, how do you succeed to the throne when the king is immortal?), and it would also explain his ability to inspire rebellion in creatures without free will - leading by example, as it were.
There seems to be no evidence that human beings had any more knowledge of the potential for free will within themselves until it was proved to them by experimentation in Eden, and there again, the voice of the more-than-angel was there to lead the way.
On the subject of jealousy - consider the power of flesh. Angels are spiritual creatures, unallowed to know the wonders of the material world. Humans have always been the combination of the spiritual and the material - imagine all the things that humans can do that an angel will never know. They have the wild irrationality of emotions, governed by chemistry. They have touch. They have taste, and smell. Perhaps these, rather than the idea of free will, were the original agents of discontent and 'jealousy' used to lure angels into rebellion, with the Eden discovery of free will a secondary reason. They do say that 'demons' or 'fallen angels' have a particular hunger for experiences of flesh (which some believe leads to the phenomenon of possession), so I merely throw the possibility in that that, rather than free will, was the initial temptation.

If they got jealous of our standing in God's affections, they would be tempted to disobey God. According to Revelation 12:3-4 a third of the angels fell with Satan. Not sure if they fell because of jealousy of mankind or pride in their own excellence.
According to Hebrews 2:5 man was made a little lower than the angels, but everything is to be put (at the 2nd coming of Christ) under (redeemed) mankind's authority, with Jesus as head, since he became man through his incarnation.
Some people take Ezekiel 28:11-19 to be speaking about Lucifer's fall.

lol angels dont have free will Pangel my dear
People say that so they can explain how satan has free will and explain the story about angels falling
first off Satan wasnt an angel..he was a creature that served along side the angels...he was created of fire rather than light
and angels are pure creatures...they do not fall. Because they dont have free will.
They cant be jealous of anyone either.
Angels dont have emotions.

Certainly in Islam, angels were not created with free will.
A Sufi story I like says that Lucifer was the angel who loved God the most. At the time of the angels' creation, God told them to bow to no one but Him.
However, when God created mankind he commanded the angels to bow before the new figure. Lucifer refused because he could not forget the first commandment and would bow to his beloved God only. The other angels saw Lucifer as insubordinate, and expelled him from Heaven.
Christians however believe that that the fallen angels were cast out of Heaven because of free will. Pride is usually taught as the reason the angels were expelled from Heaven. Others cite ambition.
The jealousy idea I think comes from Islam. God gave Adam special knowledge which enabled Adam to name all the creatures of the Earth. God demanded that the Angels tell the names, knowing that they will fail since they were not given this knowledge. God then commands Adam to display his knowledge in front of the angels and when he did, God commanded the angels to prostrate before Adam, at which point Iblis (Satan) refuses.

No, angels did not have free will. They were created perfect, but somehow that didn't work out as planned. That's why God chose to give humans free will.
The angels were jealous of man because they were God's chosen ones and made in his image (free will being part of that).

You have to understand that Christianity developed from several mythologies. In the Canaan mythology, Gods (who later became angels when monotheism took over) did have free will -- very typical for Pagan beliefs. However, in other Semitic mythologies, and especially in later Judaism, it was believed that angels were created Perfectly.
What you are seeing is the blending of these two mythological ideas.

Peace be with you,
Will belongs to GOD alone as nothing happens without his will.
We as Humans have free choice.
Angels do not have free choice as they are messengers of GOD and do his work. Since they have no choice they are unable to disobey, only to serve.
Angels were made from Light and Satan was made of the Fire. In Islam GOD made Humans, Angels and Jinns. Jinn is where the stories of Genies in bottles originally came from.
Jinn is on a different realm we can not see. Satan was a Jinn and choose not to obey GOD and bow down to Adam. Only Jinn and Humans have free choice and will be judged.
We believe they have some supernatural power and they are the ones acting like aliens and ghosts to deter us from GOD as being the bad apples of the Jinns and doing Satans work working with him.
Angels are not jealous because they were not created with that kind of brain to know jealousy. They only serve GOD.

Satan was puffed up with his beauty and he wanted to be worshiped.
Maybe he was jealous because God had a relationship with man. Satan was guardian angel of the garden of Eden before he tempted Eve and was booted out of heaven and God's graces. It's in Exodus.

As purely spiritual creatures angels have intelligence and will: they are personal and immortal creatures, surpassing in perfection all visible creatures, as the splendor of their glory bears witness
The fallen Angel through his pride thought God loved the human person more
