Depends on what works for you. Take a look at the
Sony DSC-W50
or
Kodak EasyShare C875 (very nice lens)
or
Nikon Coolpix L6
or
Canon A5400

We broke our Kodak digital camera. By we, I mean my 14 year old who breaks everything. We went to Wal-Mart to get another one and the salesman was nice enough to show us the Kodak Easyshare c703 which included the digital camera and the charging and sharing doc for just $103.00. It was a Christmas special left over. This was about 3 weeks ago. I LOVE it! It's a 7.1 megapixel camera with video/audio recording and the editing software is wonderful. The pix and videos are AMAZING. I've been uploading videos to YouTube and photos to myspace and emailing family & friends pix of my 2 daughters, one is just 3 months old. I am so pleased. My Mom bought 2 of my sisters cameras - one for $400 and another for $250, and on a fluke my husband and I went shopping and got this incredible deal. Go talk to the camera folks at Wal-Mart. Maybe they still have a couple in your neck of the woods.

I agree that you should buy the canon camera. They are a top notch line. Also, with the sony cameras, they use their own line of batteries, which can be expensive. They also do not use an SD memory card like the canon does, which means that their memory cards are not as versatile. The SD memory card can be used in MP3 players and is cheaper.

canon powershot A540! it is the best for the price-usually around 140-150. try bestbuy.com for a really good deal. also take into consideration the price of the memory cards. some cameras use more expensive cards that weigh out the price of the camera.
sony cybershot-$129
+mem card- $30
about $169
Canon A540- $140
+mem card- $15
about $ 155
canon would be the better deal.

I have a Canon PowerShot A540 that I paid $175.00 for, and it's a darned good camera. 6.0 megapixel, 4X optical zoom, large view screen on the back, very user-friendly, takes GREAT pictures, and very versatile. I'd recommend it to anyone.
