wrote me a letter saying that he wanted to take a break becasue he's never really been single since he moved here and even when he moved away and moved back. And i dont konw how long I should wait or even if I should. He did that the day before our 4month anniversary and a week before V-Day. What should I do??

let em go...most likely he found someone else that he is interested in and wants to be able to see the other chic without feeling guilty about you. Just let him go, he may realize that he doesn't like the single life and that this "chic" is no good. Then he'll be back, it'll be up to you if you decide to give him another chance.

Hold him to his word and move on. You have no obligation to wait for him and it's probably not in your own best interest to do so. Don't be the chick 'waiting in the wings' while he's out exploring. He'll definitely take you for granted. Thank him for being upfront about the matter, wish him the best, and go on with your life. I'm sure there's other cute guys you've had your eyes on! Good Luck

Sorta sounds like he is trying to let you go in a gentle way. It may not be that he doesn't want to be w/ you, but has some issues to figure out for himself. Since you haven't been together all that long I would not wait. Because life is to short for you to sit around and wait on someone who doesn't know what they want. It will be hard, but move on. Be strong.

Move on. If he is saying he wants to "take a break" that's code for I don't want to see you anymore. If you're enjoying a relationship, the last thing you want to do is "take a break"!
And to tell you in a LETTER?! He's gutless to boot!
Four months is not very long when it comes to relationships. Just look at it as a learning experience.
GOOD LUCK!!

First, I think it's lame to write that in a letter. I think that by writing it down and not telling you face to face, he was hiding his true intentions. If he's happy with you, why does he need to be single.

Let him have his "break" but don't wait around for him. See what else is out there, I am sure that is what he is doing!

That's a stupid reason to break up with you. You need to pick up the pieces and move on. He doesn't deserve you. I won't wait for him. Move on and find someone who appericates you and doesn't break up with you just becuase they haven't been single and gives you some stupid reason. And he couldn't even tell you to your face. That's really bad that he didn't have the gutts to tell you to your face. Move on.

He is making a decision that fits what he needs right now. You have two choices, wait for him (why?) or move on and find someone new.

Let him go- don't waste the pretty!
You only live once, and if he's not man enough to talk to you in person, he's also not worth waiting for. You'll find someone in no time.
