I've been told by Christians that without god to be the supreme judge over all issues of morality then we would be stuck with might makes right.... Those with the biggest guns make the rules.

If anyone looks at this claim they see the flaw. Christian morality is itself a might-makes-right philosophy. The only difference is that their gun is god's supposed wrath.

Is it really moral for a being that is so different from us to dictate what we should and shouldn't do? Is it not coercion for one entity to punish others for transgressions against their opinion of what is right and wrong? Isn't it contradictory to say that your god can kill, or that one should kill for god's honor, but also say that killing is wrong?

the Bible god is a "do as I say not as I do unless I give you leave to break commandments" kind of deity.

no doubt you've noticed how Christians can manage to justify the truly heinous atrocities their god and his chosen people (via their god) committed in the Old Testament. genocide, infanticide, slavery, torture, rape, pillaging and plundering is all okay as long as the Bible god is on your side.

PS. gee Kellybell ... what about this verse in Luke?

Luk 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay [them] before me.

Well in a godless worldview the laws of physics are all that govern so there really is no solution to your problem of might making right because nobody can escape entropy regardless of how "good" you are. The typical non religious appeal to morality involves appeals to majority or notions of societal good so again you haven't escaped your problem. You sound like the tyrant because you have an inordinate amount of emotional investment into whether somebody believed differently than you.

It's sadly paradoxical, but evil people have always used religion to further their own agenda, usually the opposite of what Christianity teaches.
BTW, humans were created "in the image and likeness of God" so your point about the difference is not accurate.
Lastly, the belief in Christianity is a joke IF Jesus didn't rise from the dead to prove who He was. If He did, what does that mean for the organization He set up to spread His message to humanity?. Where do you belong in the whole struggle for the minds, wills and souls of men and women? Or is life just the pursuit of another beer?

You are misinterpreting the Bible, specifically the New Testament. Jesus does not say it is ok to kill, He commands everyone to "Love one another", and "judge not lest ye be judged" . However, as the Creator of all mankind, God is and will be the ultimate judge of what is right and wrong. That is why he sent His Son to us, to show His love, and to save us from the wrong things we do. And if we accept His gift of Love, we don't have to worry about facing Judgment, HE has already faced Judgment for us. And believe me, there is a wonderful peace you get when you realize, through Him, you don't have to worry about eternity, it's taken care of.

"Might makes right"??? Where did you get that from? Maybe back in Biblical times (ie before Christ), but not now. Times had changed from the beginning of the Bible to the end of it, and continue to change even now. But respect for the Deity should never change.

It's like respecting your Father and Mother. They created you, and even if you don't like Their way of doing things, you still live under Their roof and must follow Their rules, even if they change them, otherwise you get in trouble. It's called respect and self-discipline. But remember, if you honor them and do as you're told, you will have a peaceful life and a Family to depend on when times get tough.

Also, He has given us free agency. It is up to us to decide to live by His word or not. This will flavor our "opinion" of what's right and wrong. If you walk with the Lord, you will naturally go with, rather than against, what is ultimately the right thing to do.

As far as killing is concerned, you're trying to ball everything up into one nice neat package to make Christianity fraudulent. Let's make this apply to you for a minute. Do you believe it's ok to murder anyone you please? Ok, so then it's not okay to kill ANYONE, right? Hmmm...what about war? What if someone comes into your house and tries to kill your family? Is the death penalty decreed by the government you are ruled by wrong? What about abortion? There are instances of each one of these scenarios in the Bible, with the appropriate action. "Thou shalt not commit murder" is different than "Thou shalt not kill". It's all a matter of interpretation and common sense. Killing is ending the life of a living creature. That's a very broad category. Murder is the shedding of innocent blood. Big difference.

And lastly, God is not "a being that is so different from us". We were made in His image. We are His sons and daughters. Do children look completely different than their parents? No.

I truly hope you find the answers you are looking for. Don't let your heart be hardened by this cruel world. He is waiting for you to acknowledge Him.

Blessings

Oh... they use more than god... guns have been used by christians in this world plenty. They are so buried in their rationalizations, I don't think they see the contradiction.

As in your statement, they are already gods and what you can say. One who thinks they are with god, they already with Satan. Whoever know they are with god or satan?
