I know-it seems incredible. (That some people don't recognise sarcasm)

I don't think anyone denies the universe is 6000 years old. Humans have been around for 6000 years for chrissake, so I'm pretty sure that means the universe has been, too. You're an idiot, Clownboy

As much proof as the dinosaurs, as the gold being mentioned in Gen-2:7-11 in a garden when the earth was just created and as the sun being created on the 4th day but you had 3 days before with evenings coming in as well as trees 'bearing fruits after its kind' on the 3rd day when fruits come through seasons...but no sun.

Yep that's all the proof i need.

How can anyone suggest that the Earth is only 6000 years old?

Where is all this proof?

So what's the proof?

Any way I think you've gotten it wrong.

first of all young earth creationists don't even say the universe is 6,000 years old. Their claim tends to be (on the mainstream) that the earth (and by proxy the universe i assume) is between 14,000 and 10,000 years old and that man has only existed for 6,000.

The reality of the situation is the earth itself is around 4.5 billion years old. The universe is considerably older than that (around 14 billion years old).

It's much older than 6000 years... It's actually around 13 billion years or so. Check out the link below.

its pretty hard for the universe to be 6000 years old when there are rocks on earth that are 4 billion years old. dated by carbon 14 method, the rate at which carbon breaks down. and since all life on earth is based on carbon its a pretty accurate method of dating objects...you sure picked an apt avatar tho...

A God that spoke issues into existence may also amplify distance, two times contained in the bible we hit upon this once at creation and once after. 6000 years is in hardship-free words a chance, by using the indisputable fact that grow to be believed upon an assumption, the earth is a gentle earth yet no man or woman is time-honored with of the quantity of years. I my self via eliminating many of the assumptions have self assurance it should be round about 6-8-10,000 years. we are in hardship-free words restricted via the perfect of sunshine years were God created them. The deception is in evolution, they save replacing it to in superb condition. purely making the deception higher.

There's zero proof.

However all evidence does point to an age.

Our universe is 13.7 billion years old.

People whodoubt that aren't just fundamentalists blindly following a holy book - they're anti-human, anti-reality - how can you flee from a reality so beautiful a Universe so ancient and magnificent?

How come religion believing in an endless, omnipotent god wants such a tiny, base existence?

I don't. But I do believe the earth is 6000 years old since the beginning of Adam and Eve. That is the beginning of our existence. God has always been and will forever be, so who knows what he has done before our time.

That old? Why so far back? As far as I'm concerned the Earth is only a few decades old. It's all the proof I need.
