They can be absorbed on an empty stomach, but they can cause nausea on an empty stomach. Do not crush them. If you must fast take them with a large amount of water. If they are not doctor recomended wait till after the fast. Do not fast for an extended time, there are many nutrients that you need o replace everyday . Calcium can be taken from your bones to go where it is needed in the body. Protein is needed everyday.

The first thing you need to check is if the mulitvitamin you are using is even well abosrbed by the body under normal circumstances. If it is not well absorbed by the body then switch brands. Do not crush them unless you have trouble swallowing them as they are best taken whole. Your body absorbs them when the stomach contents causes them to break down and be released into your blood stream. Check your brand though to be it is one that is well absorbed by the body.

Yes, but not as well. You should also be taking a high end vitamin found at a health food store and not One A Day or Centrum. Solgar is good. Ask for a natural vitamin supplement at the health food store. You should take a vitamin that has naturally derived vitamins and not chemical vitamins.

Certainly your body will absorb them. Might not feel ok in an empty stomach though. How long is your fast? More than one day isn't very healthy.

I don't know. If I take them on an empty stomach they make me nauseated. I think crushing them might do the same thing.

No, they are rocks and minerals mined from the earth and your cells cannabolize other cells to make sense out of something that your body is not designed to absorb.
