There is a liquid sold in the UK and in Canada called Camps Coffee, it comes in a bottle, been around since the Boar War around the 1900's, it was a way to transport coffee with out having to lug a pot and grounded coffee around, it to has chicory in it, most lawns have wild chicory, most people did not know this.

For years when I was a chef travelling around Canada the was a beverage called "Moccamat", it came frozen was put in a bottle and like soft drink dispensers, it mixed hot water and the concentrated coffe together, alot of banquet halls used it as it could be opened and int dispenser fast and tasted like real coffee.

You can go on sites like ebay and kijiji or go to shops like homesence and costco and bye a Gourmet coffee machine for only like 20-30 dollars Starbucks and tim Horten's use Professional Quality coffee machines so its pretty much impossible to beat them I suggest just going to a shop that sells coffee every morning if you don't like homemade coffee. Also MacDonald's is supposed to have the best coffee out of all of the coffee selling restaurants And don't forget that al the coffee shops have people that have been making coffee for YEARS on end. Some restaurants sell flavored coffee such as maple and pine. I think you should ether bye a Gourmet coffee machine of just go to a coffee selling restaurant. (the Professional quality coffee machines cost 100 dollars)

There is a product called Postum. This stuff is a chicory-based product that I found in the 70's.
Not a bad taste, and can be made with either hot water or heated milk. Not so good (in my opinion) if you're looking for a caffeine boost. For this, you might try shaving Sweet baking chocolate on top of a cup.
Hope this helps!

Coffee substitutes and blends are made with chicory (not the roadside wildflower variety). Do a yahoo shopping search on the words chicory and coffee.
(you probably already know, Cappuccino is a blend of very strong coffee and milk, so it is not a non-coffee drink)

Can the drink contain any coffee at all?

There's millions of different ways to enjoy coffee, but your answer sounds near impossible.

malt is a great alternative to coffee.

btw caffeine is not bad for you as long as it's freshly ground coffee (not the instant crap you buy at the supermarket), free from sugar (or artificial sweeteners for that matter), and no more than 2-3 servings per day.

but if that's not your point, try Nutrilite's Positrim Drink Mix in Cafe au Lait... it's nutritious and yummy! exclusively available through www.quixtar.com

hot cocoa is great for that, and you can add one of those coffee-mate flavor milk to the cocoa and it will taste a lot like coffee.
