I think ALL military personnel should be seperated from the general population for a "reacclimation" period before being re-introduced into society under any circumstances, wartime or not.
The superiority, self-importance and holier-than-thou complex the military gives the armed forces does nothing but estrange and cause dissent amongst the general populace against the military.

No!
By modern standards they are completley sane.
they are trained to do a job and they are good at it.
They represetn what a Nation determined=s is the model of effeciency for military forces when needed.
I am talking of as a unit, not as the individual soldier.
That a man can be insane, a psycopath and even a sociopathic killer and still remain in service, especially during wartime, is entirely possible and be rewarded with medals and promotions for those acts.
That they can still funciton even while suffering mental disorders such as a delayed stress syndrone is possible.
The inuring ability to dismiss the death involved by and of those who believe killing is the right way to defend a nation and to not question the why is not a form of insanity, it is national sanity at its utmost.
The marines have a proud tradition of service to nation in time of war and no one can question their obedieance to orders or loyalty to branch of service but his loyalty to branch in most cases has nothgting to do with rightness or wrongenes of their actions and the purpose it serves.
they do nt question just do.
A lot of the marines so called combat profecienecy is hype, propaganda and one standing joke by Special forces was every marine platoon had a historiuan and a photographer to tell how great they were and to soem extent that is jkustified.
They are the few and deliberately kept that way.
As a smaller unit they cannot be wasted as cannon fodder by military such as army units are used or veven for occupation troops. they are the shock troops of the American military system, you use all your force because you want to limit your own casualtys due to repalcement of trained individuals being scarce resources.
I take nothign awasy form old marines force but the new one is difernent matter today as their nco's and officer corps lacks the dicipline authority their old peers had and have let many of their troops act in a barbaric manner and beleiveing it is right to do so.
this is the situation today and especially with two units who act as hunter killers rather than as miltiary men trying to bring a country into democratic r\eality.

well ... see, first of all they undergo training which is tough as one can practically imagine or visualize. at the war zone, they see things which others dont see, ok?
they fighting for you all and instead of thanking them, you all keep complaining about them... its totally unfair, if the US government puts up a standard like compulsory National Service either in Civil Defence, Police Force or Army for 2 years and 10 years reservist training each duration not existing not more than 40 days, then you all will understand. Just as its in Singapore.
So, stop blaming the marinecorp personnel and really, mentally they are 100% alright. Its just that they dont gel well with civilian life properly, because their mindsets have the impact very hugely... but in due course of time, they will also change, after all they also humans, they were civilians like you before, see army is not a one man network, if none wants to do, then who will run the army?
Think about it, dont segregate armed forces personnel.
Be proud ya sleep in peace due to the soldiers never sleeping out there and serving ya country dude.

Most marines are not crazy but highly patrotic. They make good postal workers and police men. I was in the Air Force in Camp Perry and they did not mind me very well and I was a E-4 Sergeant over them. They do take orders very well except from another jar head and I had them written up for Faiure to Appare..also we always got into fights between the army, navy, air force, and the marines and the marine honchos thought it was funny when a marine beat up a lesser man..they were usually bullies and bragged alot about semper fi ..but they were cowards when it came to your rights and they pushed their selves around like they owned the world..tuff guys no brains

They're saner than YOU are, and THEY have BEEN deprogrammed. But don't worry, a few years of TV broadcasting, and they'll be right back with the program, just like you.
Unless, of course, they've lost interest in the Great Programmer...

Motivated and disciplined are not synonomous with the word crazy. Every group of humans has their bad apples... don't blame the whole for the actions of a few!

The only thing that makes a Marine crazy is the knowledge that he had been trained on an Army base and could be assigned to boats.
What no sense of humor?
This in no way damns the Marines. It damns the politician that put them in the position.

Marines are not crazy, you just aren't used to our Marine subculture, I guess you could say. No, we should not be deprogrammed, because we can't be - we weren't programmed in the first place.
As for the little acronyms, my favorite is MARINE: My Rides In Navy Equipment.

nothing like reading how crazy and deranged i am first thing in the morning on here.
Yeah maybe someday ill kick my bad Marine Corps habits like:
--being 15 min early for EVERYTHING
--never letting people down
--taking responsibility for failures and success
--learning how to lead men at an age when most guys hadnt decided on a college major
--learn not only how to lead, but the lost art of following the directions of your leader
--how failure is not an option, for yourself or your peers, and it is everyone's responsibility to ensure the success of the team
--pushing my body to a new level of physical fitness
i probably have more bad habits from the Corps but i cant think of any of them.

They aren't crazy, they are trained to do their job. About 99% of them know how to turn off the training when they need to. The remaining 1%, they might want to continue their job after the military, but that is just because they really enjoy doing their job.
I work with a few Marines, and they aren't crazy at all, just Gung Ho, Hooraah!
