i think it means: till death happens to separate one of you. think of what happen swhen somone dies, you are separated from the person for life.
i think it is a pledge of faithfulness between a husband and a wife. they pledge to love and be faithful to each other till one happens to die.

I do think one of the reasons for the increase in the divorce rate/acceptability of divorce etc. (and there are many factors) is the fact that people now have to stay married for much longer than they did previously. I have known some people to get divorced after 20-30 years of marriage, whereas in the past, at least one of them probably would have been dead by 50 or 60!

It means that once you get married, nothing should seperate the 2 of you except death. It's your commitment that you aren't going to split up or get a divorce (though not many people live by that these days).

That quote is from the traditional Westminster wedding vows (as in Westminster Abbey near London, England) and it is a promise that you devote yourself wholeheartedly to the man/woman you are marrying and pledge your love, life, and troth (sexual activity) to this man/woman as long as you are both alive. If/when one of the married parties dies, the other is free to marry someone else.

And that's a vow before GOD. Now that we know that we know what it means what are we going to do about it? GOD'S not stupid, HE knows what it means. Are we in BIG trouble? Thank GOD that HE"S a forgiving GOD. I think we should quit acting like HE doesn't really exist and pray,'GOD HHEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!,""WE NEED YOU!"
