Yes, you will burn fat AND gain lean muscle mass. I jog for about 20-30 minutes after my workout, which ensures that I am burning fat. I am gaining weight, but my body fat is also dropping, which means I am gaining muscle.

It's best to do the cardio after your weight lifting session because that way, most of the fuel your body has left is fat. You must terminate that fat. Say to the fat,"You have been targeted for termination." and then hit the treadmill, elliptical, or whatever. Then when you reach your goal you can finally say, "You're terminated." or "Hasta la vista, baby." or one of many other things that will get you pumped up.

In all seriousness, I have the same goal. Lose fat, gain muscle.
