Do all atheists believe that you can only find joy within sin? Does everything joyful you do have to be morally wrong? Thats a sad thing.

I didn't say anything, It was one of your fellow non-belviers that asked the question why I can't enjoy life with sin.

I find spending time with my family, friends, girlfriend (not sexually) enjoyable, and there is nothing sinful about that. To say that one can not enjoy life without sin, is ridicules. I enjoy life everyday without sin.

Unfortunately, Atheists (though I do not believe there is a true Atheist) do not know the value of salvation. They only know the value of fun.

My husband and I are very religious. When we met, we were both sure that the other would be completely prudish when it came to sex because of our mutual religion. Boy were we wrong! There can be nothing wrong with the WONDERFUL things that we do together in the privacy of our own room in the sanctity of marriage. There are many other things that we do, besides making love, that are fun and enjoyable that are not sinful. It's just that people in the world seem to think that making love is a dirty thing. We thank God that he brought us together. We both came from unsatisfying marriages, where our exes were unfaithful to us. For the life of me, I can't figure out why that woman would have ever gone anywhere else. I've found that I have an insatiable desire. So we are VERY well matched and there's nothing sinful about it.

First I think you should re-read the question and understan the point of view being expressed.

Next you need to realize that atheists don't believe in sin and some to most of what you consider to be morally wrong are similiar to what atheists consider to be morally wrong. There are, of course, exceptions and differences.

I'd suggest taking an Ethics course (college philosophy) so that you can understand various moral systems and how to go about evaluating them. This is not an attempt to corrupt you, but it is good to understand why people use which morals.

It probably depends on how you define sin. Since many Christians say everyone is inherently sinful, then obviously you can't enjoy life without sin. (You can't *not* enjoy it either.)

On a deeper level, there does seem to be a connotative connection between piousness/prudishness and self-loathingness. So I think that's what we're talking about.

EDIT: An extreme example might be the flogging of one's self that used to be common in the Christian faith. (Yes, this is true.) Or the so-called "Puritan Work Ethic" that if you aren't being productive all the time, you're sinning.

Not only does this make no sense, but seriously man, what do they TEACH you in those churches?

i'm an atheist. No I do not "sin" unless you consider living a regular life and caring about my fellow human beings without wanting them to burn in Hell a sin.

Believe it or not, non-christians have belief systems and morals too. Many of them far mopre respectable than the bibles.

I think you would find most atheists quite morally sound. However, we are moral for a different reason. We do it because it's the right thing to do, not because the bible, god or the church tells us we should (or we go to hell *gasp*).
