I'm travelling in an RV throughout the first couple of weeks in August. Will I need to pre-book RV sites (in Banff,Lake Louise, Jasper, Vancouver Isl) or can I simply turn up on the day?!

Yes, book ahead! then you don't have to worry about where you are going to stay and can just enjoy your vacation. As previously mentioned, RV sites are limited through the rockies, and that is one of their busiest time of the year.
Vancouver has a bit more to offer, but not a lot for the size of the area. The only RV Park that is centrally located (it's in North Vancouver) is expensive and usually full. A couple in Surrey are cheaper, but harder to access, though one is right on a busline. Msg me and I can give more info if desired.
You may find it preferable to stay in some of the small towns a ways out from the tourist areas, except for the time you spend visiting Banff and Lake Louise. In any case, I would recommend reservations for anywhere you plan to stay.

If you're looking for developed RV sites, I'd suggest you pre-book--particularly in the mountains. There are primitive campgrounds scattered through the forest east of all the national parks, but developed sites are much more limited.

I grew up tenting in BC Provincial parks. they have quite some tenting in chance-free factors run by technique of the provincial authorities. The settings have a tendency to have extra of a back to nature sense than maximum deepest campsites. it should be what you're searching for. in case you get a small RV you do not have a lot situation. although the commerce off is many may have fewer facilities than maximum deepest information superhighway sites. do not assume a electric powered hook up. i tips finding out a minimum of a pair.

I suggest that you make reservations as it is very busy at that time of the year. My husband and I went for a weekend and could not get into any hotels or motels one evening, but we did get into a campsite with a tent., no hookups. Definately book ahead, your trip will be much more enjoyable. Safe travelling.

I would STRONGLY recomend you pre-book otherwise you could find that sites are completly booked as they are most of the summer and often in the sping and fall.
