i'm not sure how common this back problem is - i know a gal at work has it too, so. it's getting worse. i was supposed to start physical therapy for it last year, but i had a lot of things going on and never got around to it.
one of my vertebres (sorry for spelling) in my lower back is slightly turned/crooked. it affects all of my surrounding muscles in my lower back and even around my hips and into my ab muscles EVERY DAY. i've had this pain for atleast 4 - 5 years now. it hurts when i stand or sit for a long time, or to bend over. it mostly hurts when i lay down! i know i will not be able to sleep on my back or stomach very much longer now... i'm almost 3 months pregnant. it hurts the worse sleeping on my side. i have neck aches too that i am unsure if it's related. i can NOT get comfortable. i've tried a pillow between my legs but it doesn't work. i wake up in terrible pain probably all the way up there to an 8/9 on a 1-10 scale.

anyone else have the same problem? or suggestions?

Perhaps you could see a chiropractor since you are pregnant. Did you ever have any exrays done? You can't now since you are expecting, but I think tylenol is the only safe pain med you will be able to take.

Good luck

I had back problems long before my pregnancy, one is a pinched sciatic nerve which causes numbness in my left leg. I went to a Chiropractor and couldn't believe how well it worked. I hadn't gone for a few years, but then I started having lower back pains just before I got pregnant. The chiropractic care worked so well that I continued it through my pregnancy. My OB told me that my sciatic would get worse during pregnancy, but mine actually got better. I have since kept going to my Chiropractor for regular maintenance. I am pregnant again and have developed new back aches that have been alleviated by chiropractic care. I strongly recommend it. If you are nervous about it, have your OB recommend a physical therapist. They also do some manipulation to your back, similar to what a chiropractor does, to help align your spine. However, they will give you exercises to do that will help strengthen your back and are safe to do during pregnancy. Good luck.

One of my sons spines is sideways and mine has a severe curve (scoliosis)
It is absolutely worth picking up a $20.00 book called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies, it teaches about muscles (which are involved any time bones are), pain and referred pain and how to help yourself get better. 75% success rate.
