I want to rip out an old vaniyt and replace it with a pedestal sink. What is the easiest way to do this without making a huge mess? I also have to take the sink out.

Taking the sink out is simple, turn the water off, place a bucket under the P trap and unscrew it to drain it. Remove the P trap and bucket, unscrew the thumbscrews under the sink from around it's rim. disconnect the water lines at the faucet and pull sink out, Depending on how the vanity is attached to the wall you may need to remove screws first or just simply pull the vanity away from the wall with your hands and some muscle or using a flat pry bar not a wrecking bar. Remove nails and excess grout or silicone. Repair the wall, re tile or laminate the floor, paint and put in the pedestal sink and faucet.

Turn the water off, disconnect the plumbing, remove any screws, etc. that secures it to the wall or floor - - and pull out.

Good Luck, enjoy the look of a fresh new pedestal sink. Love them, they look so "today."

first see if it's screwed to the wall. If so, remove the screws. Shut the water off at the shutoff valve. Remove water lines from the wall pipes. Unhook the drain. You might try popping the sink out first. You might have to use a knife to cut any caulk around the sink. Then try and pry it up with a hammer and screwdriver.
