since the beginning, someone has put down someone elses belief, because it didnt fit theirs. Religion, seems to be the biggest of all. I choose to wear socks with tennis shoes, some dont, should i be upset, that they dont believe like me? Now take the war for instance, Some say it is revelations coming true, some say not, if it is revelations coming true, doesnt it prove that God exists, why would a loving god start this blood shed, could it be satan himself putting hate and war in the mind of man? Just a question, we all can believe what we want, none of will no the answers till the end comes anyway.

I believe in keeping an open mind. And If I do something a certain way, and think of something in a certain way, I don't feel bad. You should not feel bad either. It's you. By comforming blindly out of pressure, you are not showing anyone who u are, ur personal shine and uniqueness. I think religion is a very personal matter. Many people in the world forget that. It's people's personal beliefs, according to their thinking and faiths they identify with,or what they hv grown up with, or the ideas they adopt.....and who are we change that. Helathy debate and discussions are always great...they broaden everyone's horizons, but we shouldn't become judgmental. We shd keep an open mind.

The wars are our personal doing. Humanity alone can change the course if we want it. That's my thinking.

Interesting.

My very humble opinion is a bit different. Religion to me, is a set of internal values and beliefs that it seems every human has. Whether it's related to God or to nature or spiritual, etc. It seems we all have some internal mechanism that encourages us to believe there is more out there then meets the eyes.

On the other hand, wars are fought because of man's inability to get along. We fight in the name of religion because it's convenient. Not because that's what religion says to do. It's just an excuse. If religion was nonexistent, we would still be killing each other. And it's been going on forever!

The question, of the day is why? Why have humans been killing each other for thousands of years?

Well, let's see. Greed, anger, lust, gluttony, envy, pride, for starts. Then there's power. Very often someone in power convinces the masses that a second group of people is to blame for their hardships. And convinces them to take arms against the second group. To slay them. It has nothing to do with God. But that person says, "it's what God wants". So the war begins.

An example is the Islamic extremists declaring war on you and using religion as an excuse to target you. It has nothing to do with God, Christianity, or Israel. It's just an excuse.

It's very true every one chooses their own religion.
Everyone chooses to do their own thing?
Do you believe in the Bible?
Some say no, because they feel its written by man.
Which is true, But, Inspired by God. Just as a
CEO, will have a secretary to type a letter, is the
secretary typing his/her own thoughts or the thoughts
and words of the CEO? I would strongly encourage you
to look to the Bible for answers. God does not cause war/
blood shed, just as he does not cause a person to get
drunk, get in their car and drive insane putting
someone's life in danger that is on the same road as that
driver. Rev 4:11, Psalms 37:10,11 29-31. Proverbs 2:21,22.

It is true that religious beliefs have caused many wars and blood shed. God doesn't ask us to be religious or to accept religion.

Religion is man's way of trying to control others and please God. Yes Satan wants us to think that religion is what saves us.

Jesus is God's way of reaching out to man. God does not want us to follow religion, He wants us to accept His Son, Jesus. There is a difference.

Jesus says, " I am the way the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except by me."

This is not my idea, this is not my statement. It is His.

Yes, Revelation describes the end of this world. Man brings on his own destruction. God is just telling us what will take place.

There are non-believers of different opinions but one thing they have in common is that there are now valid reasons not to believe everything written is historical fact.
There are plenty of examples of war & hate in the Old Testament but it did not signal the end of the world. There were even catastrophic natural events to worry the human population.
Thinking this war is the beginning of the end is just a scare tactic to distract people from wondering if we're doing this for some reason other than fighting terrorism (like, say, control of oil)

I've had the same issue with Christianity. I mean seriously, people shout God is Love and everything, but when I actually READ the bible it is never about love. It's full of harsh punishments, of flooding an entire village (innoccent animals as well as humans), screaming about the ed of the world and how to view everyone that isn't like you as people that are evil and shall burn in a bloody firey hell.

I mean seriously, it's disgusting. There's some great morals in the bible and everything, but they're in all other religions anyways. Why believe something that excludes everyone else to the point of saying they'll spend eternity in hell simply for having different ideas of how to worship a God?

i must say thumbs up for understanding others peoples' opinions now going back to your q i think we can say that the war is more or less the same as what happened to Jesus. he suffered to save us (he died and was nailed on the cross) that is more painful than some of us here can ever imagine. so Revelations coming from my point of view is to prove how great and powerful God is because to be honest some people think hes' a jock so when he comes those misguided pple will see that God does really exist.

I agree, I believe the war is just george Bush & the neocons greed for oil, and for Empire building. I believe God gave man a freewill, now maybe Satin is the driving force behind this greed, but Bush has freewill and has chosen to wage a war against a soverign nation killing countless thousands and over 3000 of his fellow Americans.

I don't believe that God or the Devil stick their hands in to make certain things happen. I think the war is completely the product of man. God gave man free will which means he gave us the tools to decide what to do. I believe that the end is coming soon. There's just to much wrong happening everywhere.

The effects of religion are far more reaching then those of wearing socks with tennis shoes. Still, people have shot each other for less.

Even in the end, none of us will know the answers. Some will die thinking they are going to heaven and perhaps it’s for the best that they never learn otherwise.
