The first time you go to MEPS, sign and swear in, you can still get out of it. You can NOT get out of it once you sign on your ship date. Maybe if you don't swear in you can, but I've never heard that.
Point is, don't even go to MEPS if you are not sure.

OOOOOOOOOh NICE, yea dude dont go, there nothing they can do. I highly recommend not going unless you want to go to Iraq or Afghanistan. I have been there twice now and maybe a third one is coming up. But I have spent all my military carrer trying to get out but I cant bc the contracts are 8 years! TOTAL
dont let em fool you. they say 3 years or whatever but you will still be in the IRR inactive reserves for the other five and they WILL call you back IN to go BACK to IRAQ. SO peace out bro.
If that was me I'd be like PEACE!!!!

Yes, if you really decide not to go in, you can get out before you actually ship out. I think it may affect any future chances of enlisting though.

The oath is the part that doesn't really mean anything... it is spoken and there's no proof whether you said it or not... but your signature on a legally binding contract???? Think about it! You can still refuse to go but don't expect them to be happy about it, lol!

Yes. You're not in until you re-swear the day you are supposed to ship out.
