On Valentines Day

Red Roses...
Heart-Shaped Candy...
People think of these
When thinking
Of the day of Love...

I don't...
Thoughts of You
Stream through my mind
You and only You

Stupid day-dreams...
Yet full of ecstasy
And hopes of things
That will probably never happen

But these are happy times
Because you are in my thoughts
If not my arms

Thoughts of you...
Crowd the living-space of my thoughts
Visions of you blind my mind's eye
There is no room for thoughts
Other than the ones of you

So remember on Valentines Day
When others are thinking of
Red Roses and Heart-Shaped Candy...

I am thinking of you

I changed the third verse to this

Day-dreams...
Full of ecstasy
And hopes of things
That one day might happen

Absolutely wondeful !!! but, as a friend has already pointed out, dont u think that the line"hopes of things that will never happen" takes some mirth off the entire thing? i am sure u can find something more positive to add there
did u write this poem? years later, dont make ur wife say," hunny, some Robert Burns has stolen the poem u wrote for me on that valentines day"!!!!
happy valentines day to u and ur secret love

Extremely beautiful poem! Really a thought provoking and sentimental peace of heart. I appreciate these balanced words as I understood them as I myself is an Urdu poet.

To give full appreciation I present an English poem of my friend Mr Babar Khan Durrani.

"WHY IS IT ALWAYS A DREAM?"

Some times late in a starry night,
Some times till the morning light,

I lie awake and I dream,
Of a cottage beside a lonely stream,

In that cottage lives my girl,
The most beautiful creature in the world,

She is tall with hair dark as night,
Eyes as bright as morning light,

She has got the smile that makes me wild,
My heart misses beat inside,

I call her name she comes to me,
I hold her tight she whispers to me,

"Why is it always a dream?"

3 verse, " probably never happen" is a bit sad, maybe instead of that negative line try ' that may one day happen" . Girls like confidence. It suggests to me that you dont think your good enough for her. Either way she will get a kick out of it. Good luck

If I received tihs poem anonymously, I'd be very afraid. I'd caution you (and others) on being too emotionally revealing in a Valentine's poem, when you're sending it to someone you don't want to reveal yourself to.

VERY BEAUTIFUL! What did this mean though? "And hopes of things that will probably never happen." That might put a sour note on things!

No, not if you plan on ever telling her. It is kind of awkward. I might be freaked out if I were her.

But I encourage you to talk to her in person, and maybe ask her out to dinner!:)
