My girlfriends sisters cat seems stressed out, she is meowing a lot, and is lying prone with her back arched and is shuffling her feet left and right. Her mouth is slightly open at times. She is able to move around and jump from surface to surface though.

She is a house cat, so it could not be that she was hit by a car.

Any ideas what all the fuss is about?

She's in heat from the sounds of it.

Must be a ghost! Maybe... your cat is a happy cat? They are a very intuitive and aware species... That said, is it more of a happy and neutral meow or a meow of pain and discomfort? There is also a type of meow that happens when cats are in heat, but that is probably best explained by parents.

yeah your sisters cat is in heat. Every cat goes through that if she does not stop then you need to take her to a vet.

Has she been spayed? I assume so, but I could be wrong.

Or else the cat could be sick.

In any case, kitty needs to see a vet: There are too many things that could be wrong for us to hazard a guess.

Good luck!

Is she fixed? She sounds like she might be going into heat. If that can't be it - take her to the vet!

She is in heat... If the thing is allowed to go out side do so... You will be hearing this for some time. They can get very VERY loud.
