Here is my answer after I chose to go around defending us for about two years!

We do not have to defend ourselves.

Jesus did NOT use to the Bible to threaten us. People that consider themselves representatives of Jesus use the Bible for that purpose. Remember that the REAL Bible is tightly locked somewhere and was written in Latin. These people that claim they are speaking the word of Jesus through the Bible wouldn't even be able to read it if it was right in front of them.

You could though remind them that if they want to talk Bible talk then we need to make divorce illegal. Kill people who work on Sunday's, who eat anything form the Sea (shrimp and such), etc.

Now when people try to use that "did you know that God said"

I always go "OMG! You spoke to him? What does he look like? What did he tell you about the life your living? What did he sound like?"

They know I'm being condescending and they shut up!

I could go on and on and I have about twenty books that deal with this subject if you want names then e-mail me and I can send you some names of some really good books. I have found though that no matter how much you come back, no matter how great your defense is, they will always leave feelings exactly as they did when they approached you!

Don't fret over people who hate!

GL!

P.S. for those who are BASHING your question, they have a choice to go on and not answer your question. Just like the people that spew hatred in Jesus's name have a choice to live their own life and make the World better.

No Question is ever Stupid, nor does it require further research. This is why this is called Yahoo Answers so that we can all learn from each other. Shame on those that have tried to ridicule your question.

Actually it is the churches who use the bible to threaten us (and you can take that to apply to mostly any religion and its holy book), not the bible itself.

Throughout history churches have deliberately misinterpreted what holy books say in order to further their own ends. This is human nature. This is also - if you believe the bible - quite likely evil.

By all means, read holy books and gather your moral and spiritual codes from them, they are good for that, but remember to discern the difference between what the book says and what the church says. Trust no interpretation except your own, and what you can gain by discussing with open-minded people. If whoever you discuss it with is unwilling to accept that the church and book can be wrong, then chances are you'll have little to learn from them on the subject.

You defend yourself from such an attack by becoming informed, reading and thinking about what it all means. Listen to all views and weigh them against each other for content, value and truth. In time you will reach some enlightenment, but don't expect it to happen overnight.

This is just my opinion, and you should weigh this too.

How could he use the Bible to threaten us? When he was alive only the Torah really existed. It wasn't until after that the rest of the book was written and compiled.

Your question makes no sense. I suggest doing some more research before you make such alligations again.

You have a strange strange Jesus!

The Bible is basically a HISTORY of Jesus.

The Bible DID NOT EXIST in the days THE GOD/Jesus walked this Earth.

Many other muslims are also confused, not just you - take heart!

Jesus never threatened anyone but the Pharisee with holy verse. Jesus said he came for the Jews. it was Paul who, by undermining Hebrew law, turned Christianity into a Pagan based Gentile religion. the first and original Christians were all Jews or had converted to Judaism because you had to be a Jews to be a Christian.

He didnt threaten us at all. The Bible is Gospel Truth, prophecies fulfilled and prophecies yet to be fulfilled. We must treat it as an instruction manual to put ourselves right with God because of the predicted End Times.

Become Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Agnostic, Atheist, etc and just believe him to be a man and not a messiah.

Personally, I'm not Christian, but I don't think the idea of the New Testament was to threaten anyway.

WRONG- if it was to threaten us, then He would not have sacrificed Himself so that we can live eternally with Him. He would have said, "be good" or you will go to hell. We cannot defend ourselves , because frankly we should be the ones that died in our sin- The only way is Jesus- he loves you, so much He made a way for you to receive eternal life.

Dear Friend,

Jesus did not threaten anybody, he used the Bible to communicate the will of the Lord to us. The Bible is a loving provision from a loving God who was willing to give his own son to save mankind from their own sins.

The bible leads us to true happiness through its pages.

I hope this answers your questions

God Bless

He warned us in the bible, not really threaten us. Read it sometime and get that clairified.

Furthermore, Jesus wouldn't attack us in an attempt to convert us, he's not a radicalist.
