Fear.

Racism, of course, is closer to a mental disorder, usually passed down from the parents, based on some notion that a particular skin color is somehow superior and another inferior. I'm not sure how the fear factors into that...

Sexism is just (usually) thinking that males are superior to females, but it can take a lot of other variations. Some men are threatened if the woman makes more $ than they do. Some men are even threatened by sex toys. Sucks to be them...

And, homophobia - other than being a hatred towards gays - has a certain "fear factor" attached to it. A lot of guys worry that certain gestures, actions, even fashion might make them look "gay," as if there were a handbook somewhere, lol. I've known men who think it would be cool to visit a nude beach or resort, but they couldn't handle being around other nude men. Sucks to be them, too.

Lotta fears and phobias in the human mind.

Racism comes from uneducated people with their own agends using religion as the spring board into making likeminded people follow their lead.

Sexism, is similar, but also comes from a feeling of inadequacy in oneself, causing one to lash out at a chosen protagonist, usually the sex of someone who rejected them.

homophobia is retarded. Who is afraid of homosexuals? I am not, however I think the act is a sin. I think that too many excuses are made to make people who engage in homosexuality feel better about it. It is is still a lust sin, just like adultery, rape, or having sex with people that have been taken advantage of through their inexperience (child molestation). However the attacker and the victim are one.

Part of it indeed comes from religious teachings. Women should submit to their husbands, homosexuality is an abomination, etc.

Part of it also comes from the apparent human need to be 'better' in some way than others. That need to feel superior in some way whether it be sexual preference, intelligence, skin color, religious beliefs, 'status' attained, weight, etc.

Part is from being taught (as a child or through society) that one group is somehow 'less' or 'better' - but I'm not sure that doesn't come from the first two.

It come's from people who put God in a Box. To get him in that box they need to define people as followers (people who put money in the box) and everyone else who doesnt. So we get tribalism. From that we get divisions that are ridiculous. So it comes from tribalism that could happen without relgion or with it. IT is very important to understand none of it has anything to do with God.

Pure Hate. There has always been some kind of hate/anger between people and most of likely, there always will be. Even if your a little different, some how this thought will be born.

I think humans naturally fear differences. Its a part of human nature that is evolving its way out of the human brain but for now the instinct is alive and well in most humans.

A need to blame others for your problems, and thereby avoid having to take responsibility for yourself. It's usually very prevalent in the monotheistic religions. Probably the same reason they created Satan.

mostly fear of the unknown, or lack of proper upbringing. notice that children are always making fun of the kid that is different- some people are never taught as children that it is wrong to do that, and some people never mentally grow past that stage of thinking.
