Well the jug should tell you how much to use per scoop. Just read the label.
You should be taking as many grams of protein as you weigh.
(Example) if your weight is 150 pounds than you should be taking at least 150 GRAMS of Protein. Eat protein all day long mainly after you work out.
Also dont just do the Whey, you should be eating chicken, eggs, and tuna as another source of protein!

Do not drink a protein shake 30 minutes before you work rather drink it about 1:30 minutes before. Drinking it that early before you work out will cause you to feel bloated, and the blood circulation will go around your stomach and will prevent from feeling good during your work out. You should consume about 1 to 2 grams of protein per body pound. Do not do more than that because you will all go to waste. You should also be eating 6 meals a day containing around 20-30 grams of protein. Try using water rather the skim milk. It's hard suggest how much protein you should consume because I do not know your status (age, weight, height).

gulp it down with some dextrose or maltodextrin (mix of dex and malt is best) Ratio would be 0,8 gram per kilo dex and malt and 0,4 gram per kilo whey protein.
Take it immediately after workout cos the window of opportunity allows immediate and very good absorbsion, dex will be used to restore muscle glycogen and the whey will be used as building block for ur muscle tissue, all in the name of recovery and avoiding catabolic muscle breakdown.
If u haven´t had a decent meal at least 2 hours before the workout it also pays to take about 30 grams of why before the workout, about 30/45 minutes before is a good bet.
Soem people take whey powder after waking up or at breakfast, cos it absorbs way faster than whole proteine foods, but for me it is not strictly necesarry unless u do cardio first thing in the morning on empty stomach, then a whey shake 20 minutes before cardio will help to avoid a catabolic state.
One thing don´t take it right before bed. it absorbs and gets digested fast and the calories would only be stored as fat, before bed u can better take lower digesting proteine source such as casseine proteine from non fat cheese cake, yoghurt, huttenkase, milk etc.

whey is nothing more than protein. it can help to increase muscle mass but you also have to be taking in enough carbs and fats. using whey w/ milk pretty much defeats the purpose of it. whey is manufactured to be fast acting, putting it back into milk greatly slows down the digestion time. if you want optimum results use either water or juices with your whey, you can take 1 scoop before and another after training.
if you aren't counting calories don't expect that much from the addition of whey protein to your diet...

Whey protein, when used in combination with the correct exercise, can make you gain weight from muscle mass and lose weight from body fat. It is important to remember that any type of macronutrient (fat, protein, and carbohydrate), when taken in excess, will surely lead to weight gain.

It doesn't matter if you have it before and after, i mean it won't help, it makes no difference... what you need is to have yeah, two, daily, one like 3hrs before lunch and one right before going to bed.. don't mix it with carbs cause they make its absorbtion harder... you need to have a high protein concentration in your system, this way when you need it (when you workout) the protein works rebuilding and creating muscular tissues.
Yeah, one scop like 3 hrs before lunch, one scoop before bed... see... when we sleep the cell regeneration aided by protein works better... this is why you need to take one at night.
You need to workout hard if you want it to work.
