based off of my previous question i'm going to have to go with faith. the way some people chose to answer it really showed that they had their blinders on and threw out all logic and accepted whatever they'd been taught as the perfect truth.

i'm all for logic, i just think that blind faith(which seems to be growing as the only kind of faith on here), is more overbearing.

It's a trick question, since neither is capable of grasping the truth. This was demonstrated (for logic) by Tarski, and extended by Godel, Turing and Chaitin (among others). The many blatantly wrong positions held by religions the world over have made the case against faith.

This is why science is informed by logic, but based on observation. This gives science true premises from which to structure its (logical) conclusions.

Neither is stronger. It is like comparing apples and oranges.

Logic is a system by which one derives at probable truth based upon a series of facts.

Faith is separated into two types: Reasoned Faith and Blind Faith. Reasoned faith is believing that something is true, backed up by the facts produced by logic, though not yet experiencing it. For example: Setting your alarm to wake you up in the morning (your prior experience and logic tells you that it will work, but you have faith that it will, otherwise, you wouldn't set it) or sitting in a chair (you have faith that it will hold you up because you understand the properties and density of wood [logical facts] and the standards by which furniture is created, though, you are trusting it to hold you up and do not know if it will until you sit in it). Once experience of the faith-belief happens, it moves out of the realm of faith/belief and into the realm of experience.

Contrast that with blind faith which is belief in something without a logical/factual basis and without experience.

Many people claim that the Bible must be taken on blind faith, but that just shows their ignorance of the Bible. A majority of statements in the Bible can be empirically and historically verified - thus adding to it's "reasoned faith" credibility.

As a very analytical person, a religion (or faith) that did not hold up to intellectual scrutiny would not have held my belief. However, I have found that with the study of the Bible (and not just blind ridicule of it that many people do), it is a reliable document and the contents within are true.

Good luck in your search.

It depends on what you mean by "stronger."
Blind faith, reinforced by a community giving positive feedback to more blind faith, and negative feedback to questioning, has a much greater ability to incite emotion, stubborness, and adherence to dogma than logic -- no question. People who deal in logic and reason are continually open to new ideas, new evidence, and changing their assumptions based on what the real world shows them. People who deal in faith take exactly the opposite approach -- if the evidence doesn't fit their pre-conceived notions, don't question the pre-conceived notions, ignore the evidence!

In that sense, faith is stronger than logic. It has the ability to convince someone their assumptions are correct no matter how much evidence against them arises. But, to quote an old trusim...might does not make right :)

Faith relies on and comes from fear. So which is stronger fear or logic. I'd say fear but who wants to give it that much power in you life?! However logic is extremely limited and the world involves way more than logic so where does all the other stuff fit in? Logic and faith are not opposites so the question doesn't really work.

Sorry I wrote so much:

History remembers those who fight for logic and truth. You may not see the need, but logic IS important for the survival of mankind and as long as there are people who still posses it, they will use it.

Galileo said the earth was round and that it revolved around the sun. The Catholic church would have put him to death if he had no recanted, but we all know who Galileo is now and I’m proud of that fact.

Faith is not bad; over rated perhaps, but not a bad thing at all when following evidence.

Blind faith or empty logic, either are only as strong , or as weak, as the individual that is believing. That is up to the the observer and the observed as to which is stronger. One can say that god is real, one can say that she is not. It is perspective and ideals that are based on previous experiences or folklore.
I like faith hope and charity, all are very good characteristics. Pure logic is undeniable truth. No ifs ands or buts there. But with faith things are possible that confound logic.

The law is not of faith: Galatians 3:12
Whatsoever is not of faith is sin: Romans 14:23.

So put your logic to work and have faith in grace.
Having faith in law will get you accused: John 5:45;
Not to mention faith in the law will also get you killed,
For the law is the "ministration of death": 2Cor 3:7.

The evidence does not lie, nor take sides.

Evidence reveals what's "evident": Gal 3.
"Now faith" is the "evidence": Hebrews 11.

Flush everything you've been taught by carnal ppl.
There is no consensus among "carnal" christians.
http://www.godshew.org/RevelatorySermons10.htm

Nor was there any consensus among the twelve,
were like a hung jury: couldn't agree on anything.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Faith is stronger around here, certainly. But then, faith is the easy way out. It means you get to be lazy and never investigate anything to find out the truth. You can hold your false beliefs and tell yourself your noble because you have faith.

To me logic is stronger because faith by itself never made any sense, nor answered any of the questions I was asking... I always got vague answers that made NO sense when examined analytically.
