p.s. she's not in heat so no problem with getting pregnant and they're both getting neutered on Monday but she's finding it distressing being jumped all the time by him and is having to hide in tiny unconfortable places!
I've tried playing with him lots but he keeps getting bored and running off to try and find her!!

Getting them both fixed is the first step. But mounting another cat is a cat's way of establishing dominance. So even when they are both fixed, you may find that the male cat will still try and mount the female every now and then. It will not hurt the female although she will protest a lot. When my older male cat does this to my young cat (mounting) I interfere by clapping my hands very ver loud. Startles them both to disengaging whatever it is they are doing. It also establishes with them that I AM the alpha cat. So there.

Take turns confining them in seperate rooms. Close one of in a room (preferably one w/ a litter box) and play with the other. Take turns closing them off but make sure they're not in the same room at the same time until they get neutered. Good luck w/ your kittens!

How old are these kittens? They could be just playing.
Spaying the female and neutering the male is a very good idea!

You may have to confine them in separate rooms until they've both been fixed. Because there is no other way to stop the male from these behaviors.

Good luck!

Confine HIM. Let her roam as she wishes. Then switch. Hold her as much as possible to keep her away from him.
