Try ebay. Or alternatively just by a bike rack from Halfords. I think they're about 50 quid

I had a Mondeo estate for a few years, which is an comfortable and roomy estate.
I've recently bought a C5 estate, 03 plate for around £4k (got £2k trade in on my Y reg mondeo), and it's a lovely car. Big inside, and it's a lovely smooth ride. The mileage calcs are much better than I had in the mondeo, and you can raise and lower the boot to help loading and unlaoding. It's surprising how much it helps, as it stops you from having to bend over and strain your back as you reach into the boot.
When looking, you just got to look for the split tail gate. The window should open seperately to the rest of the boot, but the mechanism sometimes locks up. The handle is on the base of the wiper. Best to check this out when looking, as you could get them to fix it as part of the deal.
I would recommend the C5.

Surprisingly the best buy estate is the citroen c5 diesel.
It is coming out very high on the reliability polls and can be got at some cracking deals. I've heard of them doing 250k with no major issues.

i would strongly recomend a scooby estate,
i got a legacy 2 years ago, and it gets worked hard, and it copes with it very well. It tows very well, and has probiabl one of the biggest boots on the market. Oh and its great fun to drive about in as well. looking at the weather over the next few days, the scoobys 4 wheel drive wil be a great advantage!
would suggest you dont take the Ford/ Vaux route cos they just dont last, and you get the usual reliability problems.

Vectra estate. If you aren't bothered by image these are hard to beat not much goe's wrong with them and if it does parts are cheap and off the shelf. Make sure it has had the timing belt and tensioners done every within the last 40000 miles as this could cause problems if left longer.

Volvos are good, but for that price you won't get much. Mondeo estate, maybe? Not very classy, but a reasonable workhorse.
