My boyfriend is a very hardworking man, loyal and all the good thing a woman would ever ask for a man.
He is also a dedicated Apostolic Christian. He goes to church every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
(Church Service, Sunday School etc.) Also, he wakes up at 3am every single day just to pray, read the bible and
bible study online before going to work. It drives me crazy and I am getting worried, He was one time upset
because he missed church for a day or two because they had to work late in the office. He said he would
considerlooking for another job if that happens again. He also brings his very huge and thick Bible wherever
he goes and reads it whenever possible (lunch break etc). He have read the Bible back to back a million times
over and over again and he said he would still do over and over again. (note he also reads Bible Study online)
He also mentioned that he prays for me everyday that I would go to heaven and blah bla

I told him he is a
fu(king crazy guy for doing so. He also admitted that he would consider becoming a Pastor in the future not unless
I disagree. It is really driving me crazy as hell. I am worried he might turn into some Bible thumper lunatic
one day. Most of the time when we are just carrying a normal conversation...'well, the bible says..."

We are getting married next year and now I am having second thoughts. Don't get me wrong, I was aware
he is a religious person when we were just dating. But as the year passed, I think he is over doing it.
Do you agree he is over doing it?

Your not right for him. This man is into his religion, and you can't seem to respect the way he does things, so go find someone else that is not so religous in your favor to make you happy. Seems like your holding him back from finding a good woman that will accept him and probably join him in what he likes to do.

I agree that he is over doing it, but many people would not. This is the thing, if this bothers you so much then two things will happen. He is going to drive you so crazy that you leave him, or he is going to resent you for not being like he is. I am sure he is a great guy but before you marry him you need to think about what you really want. Either you jump on board with him or leave because it would be wrong for you to come between him and his faith, at least he would see it that way. It is important to marriage that the couple has the same religious values because if one is more than the other then the other will be resented for not being as faithful. This is a tough one, but you guys need to be honest about what you want out of marriage. You both need to sit down and have a hard honest talk. I assume you are a Christian or he would not be marrying you, so if you are faithful just not to the extent he is then maybe he could change a little. But I can bet a million dollars that would not happen. If you ask him to choose his faith or you I can promise that he would choose his faith. This type of person God will always come first so as long as you feel the same way then you guys will be ok, but if that bothers you then you need to get out now before you are stuck in a loveless marriage. GOOD LUCK, I WILL PRAY FOR YOU, hehe!!

I do agree he is over zealous but that doesnt really help you ....it doesnt help you to feel this way either or worry if you are right or wrong....It is what it is..Either you can live with it or you cant..personally I couldnt....and I am a roman catholic who did have to go to classes etc..Mother was almost a nun..There are a couple things you cannot change about a persona nd religion is one of them...So my advice is to either accept his religion whole heartedly and let go of any resentment you feel or leave him....It is pretty cut and dry....it doesnt sound like you can handle it (I would not be able to either) so maybe you do need to reconsider this.......I dated a jehovahs witness and we were engaged and this is exactly what happened to me..he told me I could not have a Christmas tree once we were married, I could not have christmas lights or presents and I would have to convert...that led to arguments about the holy trinity which is something you never want to argue with a jehovahs witness and eventually we split because I felt he was trying to brainwash me....I found out this religion was full of child predators and he himself had been molested as a kid.....The kicker that split us up was this though........He had to put a name down on his medical power of attorney and Witnesses are not allowed blood trasnfusions so he asked me "Would you allow doctors to give me a blood transfusion if I was in some terrible accident and needed blood?" I said yes in a second! That was the end of us.....he tried telling me I couldnt do that and he said he would not give me blood either and I said so you would let me die?????? The answer was pretty much yes.....no blood......PSYCO nuts taking religion to extremes! So that is where I am coming from.......If it drives you nurts now it will only get worse.....

That being said I do find guys who have religion in their lives attractive and they usually are realoly good men who treat women well but there has to be some level of balance......and your man and my man did not have a balance as far as I can see with the limited info you posted here.Good Luck!

I think he is too deep into his religion and gets some kind of peace from this that he will never be over it. His dedication is to his religion. You MUST accept this fact before you even consider getting married to him. Do not go into a marriage with the notion that you will be able to change him, as this will only lead you into much disappointment and heartache. We all are different, it does not make any of us better than the next person. But unless we are able to accept our differences, then any hopes for a future with that person is basically hopeless. Please think about what I have said. You do not want to see yourself later on in the years, divorced and with children. Good luck to you in whatever you decide.

What a wonderful problem to have. Yet if you are not religious this could cause serious problems in the future. A bible thumping lunatic, wouldn't be with you if you were not religious, he would be shoving it down your throat, and cursing you for not going with him. Trust me, he is keeping it to himself and not forcing you to do anything. At least you have a guy that you know won't cheat on you or lie to you. I would say that is great security to know that he will always try to do his best by you and for himself. Again though, if you are not at all religious, this could be grounds for some serious problems. I wouldn't worry about him, I would just look deep in your own soul and make sure this is what you want.

Yes he is overdoing it to the point of obsession. Some people get so involved in their churches that nothing else matters to them. I would really think about how your life would be once you are married. I do not think you two are meant for each other unless you decide to have the bible rule your life as well. Remember the church will always come before you.

I think he's overdoing it, but a lot of dedicated religious people wouldn't.

If you really can't accept all the things he is doing now, then I wouldn't marry him. Because, it's just going to continue this way, and if you don't hold the same values it's going to be tough. But, if you truely love him, then try a little harder to understand where he is coming from..

Is everyone in his family religious or just him? Etc....

Talk to him about it if it bugs you that much. Tell him that you are a little worried about how his behavior is affecting your relationship with him. Don't hold it back from him it will just make it worse in the end.

Maybe you should pray about it. A bunch of strangers are not you answer. You need to discuss this with him. And you need to decide if this is the way you want to live your life. I know I would not be marring a man that does stuff that
"DRIVES ME CRAZY" If you are up set enough to seek advice on line then I think you have some serious soul searching to do before you say "I DO"

well no not really, i have to say im not very religious I have a religion and i stick to it and respect it and maybe you have to respect his religion a little more thats what he believes in you know.
If it drives you that crazy (which it think it would for me)
tell him to relax a little dot swear at him that will just make it worst tell him you like respect his religion but god( or whoever he believes in)
is not wanting anything form you except to be good and follow his rules,
if you know what im saying i bel;ieve in god too so i would know.
maybe you should tel him to try doing somethign else or possibly take a break (not break up) but take like a month break to feel how much he would be missing .

No. He is a very religious man and this is obviously a calling for him.

If you think his behavior is over the top and the fact that he prays for you is "blah, bla" - I suggest that you put the reins on the wedding. He is not the guy for you. Sorry.
