I think your pastor should keep politics out of his sermons especially when he doesn't know of what he speaks.

That kind of speaking from the pulpit is so offensive, ignorant, and inflammatory on so many levels - its hard to know where to start - the mind staggers. And I'm a Republican!
Throwing around words like 'liberal' and 'freedom' without explaining what you mean by the terms -- like everyone already agrees on what constitutes either one - it's just irresponsible.
I think what your pastor means is that anyone who doesn't agree with his definition of these things offends him. He really should stick to the Bible, shouldn't he? What are the Biblical meanings for 'liberal' and 'American freedom'?
I think I'd check out a few other churches - not because your pastor is too conservative - but because he doesn't seem to be preaching the gospel - Christ and him crucified. True 'freedom' - American or othewise - is to know the person of Jesus Christ. No political group has a lock on this - Jesus was not a Republican - haha.

Firstly, your church should lose it's tax free status. Anytime that a religious figure thinks that they should talk about politics, that takes them into a different realm. Please identify your church and location and I will be passing that onto the press and my politician.
Secondly, how very Christian of your pastor to make accusations and assumptions about a group of people, especially since he obviously is not part of that group. Is that what Christ taught? No, he did not. You should run away from that church as quickly as possible since your pastor is using his position to pass along HIS thoughts about people. Which obviously are filled with hate and discrimination. Do you want your pastor to pass on his hate to your children or anyone else? You should be bringing that to the attention of the media, he needs to be publicly shamed for that comment.
Thirdly, Liberals actually value American freedom and freedoms as much as any other group. To make that comment is a hate filled remark. There is no fact behind his statement and is intended to promote his views. Is that what you want in anyone in your life? Liberals and Conservatives and all ranges in between value the freedom.
In my personal opinion, Liberals are not as pushy about their values and beliefs. They do not believe in shoving their values down other people's throats. Liberals value American freedom and freedoms, however they do not invade other countries without doing their homework first, just to name one thing. Conservatives are as aggressive in pushing their values on others as the communists use to be. So, no I do not agree, and he needs to be stopped. Either he is passing on the word of Jesus (which was to love your fellow man - note it was not to love only your country person, etc) or he is passing on his personal views, because his personal views are nowhere close to being those of Jesus (and I am an atheist).

From a Christian attitude, the issue should be no matter if one is in possession of God's Spirit or not, and not in any respect an difficulty regarding moral values, it truly is continuously perceived relativistically. What your preacher has extremely finished grow to be to make a political reality, in violation of your church's tax exempt status as a non income, non secular corporation. i ask your self in the journey that your pastor has any authentic religious discernment. .

Did he offer any supporting evidence? He can state that as his opinion, but with out verifiable sources i.e. 3 separate studies showing that the Liberals don't value American Freedom, that's all that it is.
Even if he was saying that for the "shock value" to help make whatever point he was trying to get across, I'd say that it was a fairly irresponsible comment.

Hogwash. Liberals value American freedom very much. Just because we may not support every contrived war that comes along does not mean we are any less determined to protect the freedoms we cherish.
It's all political scamming and fear mongering and has no place in a church..

I think we value American Freedom more than conservatives do. It's the conservatives who want to bring prayer back into public places oppressing all other religions. It's conservatives who want to ban a woman's right to choose It's conservatives who want to ban Wicca from the military. It's the conservatives who want to ban gay marriage. it's the conservatives who want to ban stem cell research. It's the conservatives that wasted our military on a country that didn't attack us while Osama Bin Laden is still free. It's the conservatives that are responsible for the over 3000 deaths of American Soldiers. It's conservatives who want to advocate torture. It's the conservatives who want to give big business tax breaks and destroy the middle class. It's the conservatives keep our schools some of the worst in the world. It's conservatives that want to destroy our environment by banning electric cars. It's conservatives that want to indoctrinate the Us as a Christian country.
You tell me who's against American Freedom, it's definately not the Liberals.

That is a generalization he decided on, and not based on fact. It's based on his own feelings, and they are wrong. I think liberals value freedom. I think conservatives value freedom. Liberals just care about the other guy while valuing freedom. Conservatives just want everyone to think like they do while valuing their freedom.

I don't consider myself liberal, but I have to say that is one of the dumbest things I have heard. First of all, how can someone claim to be Christian yet make such a profound generalization? Just because the common liberal may not share your pastor's point of view, it does not give him/her the right to slander their beliefs. I am not sure how you feel about your pastor, but any self-respecting "Christian" would not use that type of stage and the influence he/she has on people to push his/her personal political agenda.

If your pastor meant, "freedom to be controlled by religious and political leaders, yes."
If your pastor meant the dictionary definition of freedom, than no.
