If you think this will be an issue, you need to have solid documentation, and proof that you're doing something about treating your illness.
Protection only goes so far. Work has to be ablt to make reasonable accommodation for you. Maybe the family medical leave act will give you the time off you need. But they cant keep you on if you cant work.

I'm not sure - but if you been "clinically" declared "disabled" there could be some protection there. If not, then there is a chance you could be let go. There is only one state in the entire US that is NOT an "at will employer" state. That means that you can be fired at any time for any reason and with out warning. I know, I found this out the hard way. I was also under a doctors care. So hopefully since your boss is aware of your situation, you will be ok.

Unfortunately, bosses are often permitted to fire workers after they've missed so many days of work, even if the workers are absent for good reason. I'm glad that you're getting treatment and that your boss has been nice. Be careful, though, because a few years ago an acquaintance of mine almost got fired from his job after missing so many days of work because of back trouble.

I know you got very good answers but look at it from a different perspective. Would you keep or fire an employee in such a case if you were the boss? That would give you the ethical perspective, if not legal.
And, in addition to the allopathic treatment, there are other supplements to help you recover or maintain a good emotional equilibrium. Would you like to avail such help?

Depends on what country you live in and if in the US, the size of the company. You need to look at the Family Medical Leave Act to determine what protection you might be afforded. Small companies are not subject to the Act. You also have to have been an employee for a certain amount of time to be eligible for protection.

You can go on disability after you quit or get fired. I think there is no way she can fire you, she would have to hold the job for you until you are able to return and be competent at your job. If you are unable to complete the work I think she may be able to ask you to go on disability.

Yes. Your boss is under no obligation to keep you around if, as a result of your illness, you are not productive.
He does not OWE you a job, you have to earn it.
