one of the meanings is that when we say we've been born again, our actions should line up w/ our words. It also means we should be doing good for others & generally be "about the Father's business"

They are both the same, when you have works that are good, or results or fruits in our personality that are good they go well for us in becoming repentant. The big thing though is that it isn't our idea of what is right and wrong, but God's idea of what is right and wrong. We need to follow Jesus's example and submit ourselves to God's will, and not be like Adam and Eve you went there own way in deciding between right and wrong for themselves (Genesis 3:1-6).

To find out about God's will though, we need to study about God and His only begotton Son Jesus Christ. The best way that I can recommend is to have a free Bible study with the Jehovah's Witnesses.

John 17:3
This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.

"works"(plural) can mean law law, or grace and law.
"repentance" speaks of "chanGe", from Law to Grace;
"from faith to faith": trust in law to trust in grace: Rom;
"from glory to glory": from law glory to grace glory: 2Cor3.

Solomon: get it: "understanding" = "grace glory": Prov 4.

The work(singular) that God gave C to do is Grace:
"Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ": John 1:17;
God sent his Son that the world might saved(graced);
And that "work" got "finished" before the cross: John 17.
For God will have mercy, and not sacrifice: Hos 6; Mt 9.

James 1:15 says: sin, when "it is finished", brings death.
When connecting the dots, "law" is both "sin" and "evil":

Law is a "ministration of death": 2Corinthians 3:7

God did not send his Son to bring death, but rather "life";
And not the temporal sort of life + death, but "eternal life".

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
