Remodeling a bathroom, do I just take a hammer to the tile?

if there is a RSC (Rental Service Corp) close to you they rent a tile scraper for ceramic tiles. long handle for easy use do not get the electric one wont work on ceramic.

Yeah, a hammer or sledge hammer is normally the fastest way if you aren't worried about saving the tiles. There are also floor scrapers that you can use and put your foot against to help remove the tiles.

Yes, A big sledgehammer. Wear long pants and long sleeves, and goggles, it will get messy. Then get a scraper that is on a long handle and scrape up the glue and tile that is left over. It can be kind of fun, I did a whole kitchen that way that had a brick red Mexican-style tile in it. Good luck.
