Some Major religions have created their own calenders for their own self serving purposes.
Also not all religions believe in Hell. In fact not all people of any religion believe the same thing.
And then there are the people who are non religious who's beliefs should also be considered.

I didn't know that the gates of hell were opened each year. What are you talking about and what religion says that?
Some say that the veil between the worlds is thinner at some times, but that is a different thing altogether and has nothing to do with hell.
