If it's just you, only a handful....she doesn't need everyone she associates with to be there.

If its a party you want u may wana look at 10-12, as you know that can be a very difficult age, however we all know some kids can be gems. If you know her friends then i would use that to judge. I would always go for 5-7 but thats because my little brother did not like big groups for partys. I would ask your girl :P lol.
Cheers
Hope i could help.

It depends on a lot of factors, such as:
Will the parents be attending, too? You can handle more children if their parents are there, too.
What kind of party is it? Slumber party? Party at another location? Just a casual party at the house?
Do you have help? Will there be other adults there (spouse, family, etc)? You can also handle more children if there are more adults who can help you. You can put one in charge of the food, one in charge of cleanup, or even assign different people to different activities and games, if you have enough willing help.
However, if it's just you and your daughter, at your home, only invite as many as you feel you can handle -- likely no more than five or six. Five year old girls can have a lot of conflicts, and you may find yourself in over your head if you invite too many!
Good luck!

I'd invite all of them. Especially if she is in school. Kids that age get their feelings hurt if they're left out. Chances are not many of them will come to the party. I always invite everyone in my son's class to his birthday party. One time 5 kids showed up. I've taken him to other parties and that's about the average amount that show there too.

I just went through this in November, originally I was going to just have a girl party. But I was worried if some didn't show, there wouldn't be many kids, so I did her entire class of 15. Talk to you're little girl and see how she feels, some at that age don't even pay attention to the boys in their class so you can go from there. Birthday Express has many great ideas, they saved me alot of time and creativity that I don't have. She is still in pre-school, right?

When they're little I usually invite one for every year old they're turning. So for your little girl I'd have five children at the party. It can be overwhelming for the birthday girl to have a lot of children excited and running around (not to mention the parents). Have fun!

I always follow this rule as do many of my daughter's friends parents. However old the child is, is the number you invite, so she's 5, I would go with 5, each year you add one. So far so good with it here and you don't have 15-5year olds running around.

I usually invite the whole class that way the rest of her friends do not feel left out. I have been lucky so far, there has not been once that every child came thank goodness, that would be nuts! Usually out of 17-20 kids between 7 and 10 come.
