You know that string like thing that basically holds your tongue in your mouth? Well I hate it. It gets in my way and I don't want it. I had a friend who had it done... What kind of doctor would I go see though?

Your dentist should be able to snip it. I had the same problem, he called it "tongue tied" or "extra attachment".

You are referring to the frenum or frenulum. The procedure to cut it is called a frenulotomy. It is often done unnecessarily. But the frenum can be attached to the very tip of the tongue, making it difficult to maneuver around the mouth. Any doctor experienced with the procedure should be able to perform a frenulotomy, but I'd suggest an oral surgeon or and ENT specialist.
