and our togo boxes, the waitress asked me what size of box I wanted. Without thinking I replied "What size is your box?" to say the least everyone else at the table relized what I siad and started laughing. It was an honest slip-up. So the waitress called me an asshole (after she laughed). I tipped her anyways. Should I have or not tipped her?

Oh, that was great to tip her. She knew you had slipped up and everyone was laughing, so she jibed you back. It's just rapport. As long as she had laughed too, no harm no foul.

if you all are being casual enough to laugh at that in front of her she can respond to it just as casually. no need to get too stuck up on the server/served relationship - she's still a person just like you.
