Well, businesses and many, if not most, people will not change their lifestyles or way of operating with out legislation. Granted, some businesses are finding that sustainablity practices (enviroment and 3rd world friendly) are becoming profitable, and many people do try to respect the environment. But util all coorperations and people restrict their emissions, the problem won't go away.

It is the Government who can set the amount of acceptable emissions for corporate businesses and Industry. The oil companies and how they deal with spills and air pollution and the auto industry and the acceptable car emissions. It all has the largest effect on global warming. Why do you think so much money is spent on the energy and fuel lobby in Washington. Why do your thing the auto industry fights emissions standards in Washington. It saves the companies billions a year in retrofitting their industry to ad hear to the stronger regulations on emissions. That is why politics is so important to Global Warming. I personally think we are too late to really stop it? SO, go buy some stock in Sun Screen and get an energy saving air conditioner. Your gonna need one.

Climate change is a political issue because the proponents of climate change want to use the legal system to force people to change the way the live in the belief that these changes will a) reduce CO2 emissions and b) that reduced manmade CO2 will slow that rate of climate change. Many others who dislike automobiles, power generation. or western civilization in general also use the issue to attack their usual targets (automobiles, power generating facilities, corproations, Dick Cheney, etc.).

Because the libs try to make it all political and they want to control us in every way possible. Al Gore owns 3 homes - one of which is so large that it has 8 bathrooms. Why do we have to cut back, but he can be such a gluton of resources? How many times does he fly on a private jet? Doesn't that put a lot of pollutants into the air all just for him - if he really practiced what he preaches - he's take commercial flights and he'd own one moderate sized home - nothing more than what they need.

M-O-N-E-Y is what's at stake. To acknowledge global warming would be to encourage more environmental regulations, which tend to cost big $$$ to utilities and manufacturers.

Because it is a political issue. Follow the money, ... those who believe it are cashing in, ... those who do not are cashing in, ... in reality it's all simply another avenue big brother government wants to use to scare you into giving up more rights and freedoms.
