It's a beautiful passage, reminding us that God is always with us and is our ultimate comforter. Christ has suffered all that humanity has suffered and through him, we can endure our own tribulations and in turn, be equipped to comfort others. Good to hear you've been comforted in your loss. It's not easy, I know!

Actually, I posted a story on my 360 page that deals with allowing God to comfort us and learning lessons through the hardships in life. You may be interested in reading it. I found it to be a real blessing. The link is on my profile page.

Many think that when God comforts us, our troubles should go away. But if that were always so, people would turn to God only out of a desire to be relieved of pain and not out of love for him. We must understand that being "comforted" can also mean receiving strength, encouragement and hope to deal with our troubles. The more we suffer, the more comfort God gives us. If you are feeling overwhelmed, allow God to comfort you. Remember that every trial you endure will help you comfort other people who are suffering similar troubles.

As we have sufferings, we also have comfort in knowing Christ. Paul writes to the church at Thessalonica, "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope." Those without Christ have no hope. They see death as the end...the bitter end.

YHVH is good. It is nice to know that the dead are resting in their graves, and waiting for the resurrection. That they are sleeping, and not aware of things on this troubled world.

2Co 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
2Co 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2Co 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
2Co 1:6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
2Co 1:7 And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
