If you're in a hurry to remove unwanted hair, depilatory creams are a good bet. They're easy to apply and effective in the short run by removing hair just below the skin's surface.

Their disadvantage is that the chemicals that "burn" off hair can also cause skin irritation. Those with very sensitive skin may not be able to tolerate depilatory creams.

Test depilatory cream on your forearm before using it to determine whether your skin reacts to it adversely (some cause skin discoloration or staining; others provoke allergies). If your skin breaks out when using a depilatory cream, wash the area with an anti-bacterial solution (like Betadine) and apply an antibiotic (such as Neosporin) or cortisone cream to reduce the inflammation. And never apply a depilatory to an area that has any cuts, scratches or other wounds.

P.S.

My bf doesn't want to put up with itchiness or bumps so he doesn't shave his chest with a regular razor, he just gets most of it off with his electric razor. It leaves some hair left but it looks great and his skin isn't irritated at all.

I HATE nair!! do not do it. It burns, it stinks, it in basic terms partly works. i could advise going to a salon and having it waxed. The extra you have it waxed the thinner and slower it grows lower back; the extra you shave it the speedier and thicker it grows lower back.

I shaved my chest hair last summer, because my newborn daughter kept pulling it when I would hold her.
All I can say is that pain and itch from the hair growing back is 10X worse than letting the baby pull it out!!!!

Don't use it on such a large area.

It basically burns the hair off, and if you leave it on too long, you can burn your skin. It is a different issue if you are just doing your moustache, but such a large area? NO...don't do it.

Just shave it.

I guess it would, you might get a rash or take off some hair where you aren't expecting to, but when it grows back you will break out and itch.
