It's great that you're back at the gym. I'm trying to eat healthy as well. I've found that just having healthier foods around the kitchen is better for you. If you have nothing unhealthy to snack on, you'll have to get up and go get it somewhere else, instead of just reaching for a snickers.

I try to buy a lot of fruits and vegetables. If you like any particular kind, like strawberries, rasberries, bananas, yogurt, cucumbers, carrots, corn, peas, then buy it. My favorite snack to cut down on cravings are the ocean spray craisins. I agree with your opinion that some healthy foods are gross, but some can be ok. (I personally could never get into kashi cereal, but I like raisin bran, and that's still healthy.)

Try to drink a lot of water, it'll flush the toxins out of your system, lots of fruits and vegetables, and try to avoid sugar. It's natural to be thinking about a lot of food you can't have, but if you get in a habit of eating healthy food, you soon won't want to drink a lot of soda, or twinkies.

Another good idea for meals if you can't find yourself eating a lot of fruits + veggies, is to try a salad, but with chicken in it, or a hamburger cooked yourself, with lettuce on the top/tomatoes. Pasta is also very healthy, so if you like spagetti, that's great. I'd steer clear of a mass quantity of white rice or mac and cheese. Brown rice and spagetti (w/o a lot of sauce) would be healthier.

(P.S: Perhaps if you write down what you eat everyday, and then write down how much exercise you've done, you'll be more motivated to stay healthy.)

Good luck!

Eating out number one is not healthy no matter what. So, learn to make alot more at home. Make salads, but make them more interesting. Ie: i make a taco salad without the meat, but cut up onion, cucumber, and tomatoes into the salad mix to make it more appealing. Then I add a taco bowl shell (these particular ones on have 20g of sodium). Play around with recipes to make them more healthy. Another example is alot of boneless/skinless chicken breasts - baked or fried on the stove with vegetables and pasta. Another thing we do often is lots of fruit salads. They're actually pretty tasty...a little of everything (apples, melons, strawberries, etc...). If you can't stand the fruit by itself get some light whipped cream or poor milk over it. I say all this because my husband was diagnosed with a heart condition caused by unhealthy living (37yrs old!) and in three months he has totally reversed it as we have begun a healthy way of living (No drinking, no high-sodium foods, and watching everything else too). Good luck to you!

I like to get those fruit plates from the grocers. They taste good and are good for you too. Some veggies even taste good if you do it right! I just made a greek vegatable mix (It's just vinegar and oil with veggies and feta cheese) and it's pretty good. If you don't like to cook, you can always pick up the premade stuff from the meat department, then all you have to do is stick it in the oven. The worst part for me when eating healthier is that it tends to cost more and so I can't afford as much as I would if I got the cheaper, worse for you stuff.

Roasted veggies are great. Just clean and cut up (about one inch chunks) your favorite veggies. I use onion, bell peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, etc. Put them in a baggy with about 1 T. olive oil and 2 T. balsamic vinegar and mush them around to coat them. Spread on a foil-lined cookie sheet, sprinkle with garlic powder, salt and pepper, and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. These are delicious!! Check out the "Healthy Recipes" section at the website below for lots of delicious, low-calorie recipes that will help you eat in a healthy but interesting way! Good luck!

Brown and crumble ground turkey with onion and garlic. Spray a 9"x13" baking dish with vegetable cooking spray. Coat bottom of dish with spaghetti sauce and top with uncooked noodles. Top noodles with spaghetti sauce, meat mixture, sliced mushrooms. Dot with ricotta cheese. Begin sequence again with noodles and continue layering until pan is full. try fruit, veggies (carrots, zuchhinni,) and eat lots of unprocessed foods. Usually the more processing the worse they are for you. Try lean meats like turkey and white meat chicken. Also non or lowfat yogurts. eat lots of whole grains too!

Begin by changing your attitude. Then look for some fruit/veg recipes on google.
Good luck.

what food do you like and dislike? because it might be pointless if everyone goes suggesting food that you dont like, which would eliminate the point of your question being asked, please add details
