I recently quit smoking pot. I have smoked it for 15 years, the last 10 can be considered extremely heavy use. Since I stopped, I have absolutely no appitite, sometimes going more than a 24 hours without eating. I'm not sure that I'm able to recognize what it feels like to be truly hungry anymore. The thought of eating anything is borderline nausiating. But that's just my fist problem, next is my newly aquired insomnia. I can barely sleep. For example, It's 2:41 am right now, I should be in bed. My lack nutrition and sleep in starting to affect my job. Funny, I never thought stopping a drug habit would lead to a decline in my work performance. I don't want to take any form of sleep aids either, for two reasons, 1: another habit will ensue; 2: I know this might sound strange from a habitual marijauna smoker, but i don't like taking drugs or pills or anything like that. never have, never will. (pot doesn't count (to me). So if you managed to actually read all of this, I need your help.

Check out the site below, there are many pages on marijuana "withdrawal" even though some people don't believe that you can experience a withdrawal from marijuana. I too smoked heavily not quite as long as you but I experienced a ton of symptoms after I stopped. It's just your body being deprived of the usual THC that you supply it with everyday. And without it your brain is wondering where it is. Not too many people will agree you can have withdrawal from marijuana but I've experienced it and I believe it to be all but real. Just hang in there and stay strong, drink plenty of water and cranberry juice is a great way of ridding your body of toxins. Also I've found that an occasional Red Bull energy drink which is 100% niacin helps detox your body as well. They also have Niacin pills at any health store but use them sparingly as they could effect your liver If you go too heavy on them.

If you you would add some additional details and say why you quit smoking in the first place if you don't see anything wrong with it.I'm just curios.Any here is a personal experience.I smoked pot for 23 years and said I'd never quit and last march I was put on 5 years supervised probation,I had to quit or go to prison.I too suffered the same withdraws you are explaining and can promise you they will get better in about 3 months. The urge to smoke a blunt will never pass but sleep, hunger and fun will return on there own.I can't imagine life any other way now that I have not smoked in 11 months.I smoked about an oz. a week and when probation is over I'll probably go back to the natural herb as it has never caused me any problems.Again I would like to know why you quit and if you might ever consider going back if it's making you this miserable. Please understand that I'm not suggesting it,I just want your take.

For the sleep, try Melatonin. It's not a drug, but a hormone used by the body to regulate sleep patterns.
Make sure you have a full eight to nine hours to dedicate to sleep after taking it, and go to bed within 30 minutes of taking the pill. If you don't at least try to get a full night's sleep, you could wake up with a wicked pissa headache.
It sounds like you had other issues that you were self medicating with the Pot. Talk to your doctor about this, and think about seeing a psychiatrist.
Are you part of any support groups for people coming down from drug use? You might want to think about joining one.

first of all, congrats on quitting.
quitting ANYTHING is a long and hard process, and right now you're experiencing the crappiest part of quitting.
sounds like withdrawels to me. your body became so dependent on pot that it cant get back on track now that you've stopped smoking.
if you're not eatin much, you need to be drinking lots and LOTS of water. Keep your body hydrated or you're going to be feeling even worse and could potentially end up in the hospital.
I cant say that I've ever experienced withdrawels from anything, so the best advice i can give is to google some natural remedies for pot withdrawels. you'll find something, trust me.
just remember, its mind over matter. you'll get through this, just keep moving forward.
i'm sorry i couldn't be more of a help. good luck

Sounds like you are going through the normal symptoms of redrawal from a drug. You probably need the help of rehab center or at least a doctor to help you with these other things that are bothering. Good nutrition whether you want to eat or not is important. But again go see a doctor.
good luck and I congratulate you on your decision to quit pot.

The most important and best method for overcoming this withdrawal is extended aerobic exercise (i.e. jogging, cycling, etc.) for at least 30 minutes a day. This should be a tough workout. In other words, you need to sweat! Also, take B-vitamin complexes and drink plenty of orange juice. You also need to eat healthy and at regular intervals. Exercise and a healthy diet, pretty simple but very effective.

Side effects of quitting marijauna and similar weeds are terrible. I was an marijauna addict. I started coughing up stuff from my lungs. It wasn't very nice, but the docter told me it was normal. My lungs were getting rid of the crap from the nicotine!
To close down the side effects and for a proper guidance, I followed these guys at http://QuitMarijauna.DrHealthExpert.com and WOW, the entire process went super smoothly and finally I have got rid of this addiction of mine.
I am super happy now. You too can follow the same path my mate.. Best Luck

Not sure quitting cold turkey without a professionals guidance is the best thing for you at this point.
you might need a professionals advice to do this after so many years; some do some don't.
try tapering down instead of cold turkey, and increase your intake of water, vitamins and healthy food. talk to a confidential help line.
good luck
