No longer the huge cholesterol threat they were once thought to be. They are low in carbs(like none) and high in protein, especially the whites. It is the yolk that has the cholesterol, so if you are worried scramble up some whites or if you scramble 4 use 2 yolk and discard 2 yolks, etc... etc....
I love eggs anyway you can make them. I love a fried egg sandwich but I only use the whites in it since I don't like the yolks, but I will eat the yolks scrambled. I also love egg salad and you can keep that healthy by using low or no fat mayo and eat on whole wheat bread. Eggs are a much better choice than a lot of foods out there!

Eggs are about the best source of protein there is. Eating eggs on a daily basis is good for you as long as it is done in moderation. Remember there are eggs in other things you consume. So if you eat 2 eggs for breakfast along with french toast and then for lunch you have a sandwhich with mayonaisse on it and then for dinner you have noodles and a piece of cake for dessert you have probably consumed about 4-5 eggs instead of the 2 you thought you only had. This is where the problem lies with eggs. All the foods I listed have used eggs in the preperation so they must be counted also. 2eggs per day is healthy according to the USDA Health regs. More than that on a average is unhealthy. So if you have a six egg day lay off the eggs for a couple days and then go back to eating them. The bad part of the egg is the yolk. It is very high in cholesterol which is what makes the heart valves clog up.

The truth is that eggs are very good for you just as long as you don't fry them. Eggs are a tremendous source of everything from protein to vitamins to healthy monounsaturated fat.

Much of the arguement that surrounds eggs is to do with their cholesterol content. However, although eggs do contain cholesterol it really isn't a sizeable amount. Obviously, if you have particularly high cholesterol you shouldn't be eating dozens of eggs each week. But five or six eggs weekly really wont have any effect at all (just as long as they've not touched the frying pan).

You should also remember that not all eggs are created equal. The quality of the eggs depends greatly on the health of the chicken responsible for it. This is why it's really worth paying those extra few pence for free range or even organic eggs.

Cholesterol from the egg comes exclusively from the egg yolk.

The egg is a highly nutritious and functional food. It contains one of the highest quality proteins you can buy. It is also low in sodium, and contains a large variety of vitamins and minerals. Egg protein has just the right mixture of essential amino acids needed by humans to build a strong body.

Next to mother's milk, it is the second most nutritious food for human consumption. Repeated studies have failed to correlate the general dietary claim that a moderate consumption (one a day) has a direct and significant positive correlation with the risk of coronary heart disease or stroke in either healthy men or women.

Reduction of blood cholesterol is best accomplished through a combination of reduced dietary sugar intake and exercise rather than a restriction of dietary cholesterol alone. Those that embark on a cholesterol restriction program often end up taking in higher amounts of carbohydrates like pasta and white rice, which are more deleterious to their health than cholesterol itself.

In addition to its nutritive value, eggs are inexpensive, delicious, and easy to prepare. They should be an integral part of any anti-aging diet.

Eggs are the best source of protein, and if high on cholesterol its in a large part because of the testing used. The body needs cholesterol and produces its own. It's like most things nutritionally, don't over do it to the exclusion of other vital foods.

My Mother-in-law ate 3 fried eggs every morning for breakfast all her life. She lived to 97 and was still a perfect size 10 when she passed.

they are both. A little egg every now and then is healthy, but they are extremely high in cholesterol. Thus, eggs in moderation are healthy. An egg everyday is not.

I believe eggs are good for you - omega 3 and all that. I think that it's the way you can cook them that would make them bad for you.

I eat egg-whites only everyday, every meal. Nothing bad happened.
