The best thing you can do is being them places. I have been a nanny for almost 5 years now. When they were that little we used to go every wheres. The Library, the post office, grocery store, the bank, Even to the laundry mat The kids Loved getting out and doing things. At that age they start to get into art projects (make sure they are age appropriate) We used to "cook/Bake" a lot. You can even introduce play dough as long as you supervise (and the child doesn't eat it). Turn music on and dance. Go to the park. In the winter take the child sledding (as long as it's not too cold). A child at this age just wants to be with you. They don't really care what your doing or where you go. Go to a local museum. or a hockey game, go watch ice skating. You can also start to teach them colors, shapes, numbers, a diffrent language.

Let them explore their world. The main concept in even the top notch school of Montessori is exploration. Make up something that is challenging.
