You're tired, stressed, and hungry. Foil your stomach's weakness by having a pre-made meal to eat that contains all the food groups and a low-fat dessert so you won't feel deprived. If it's late, relax with some music, TV, a book, or a short movie before bed. That's what I do. Or, if you don't normally sleep so soon after work, schedule several tasks to complete, both fun and housework/etc. Get in some exercise instead of more food. If you still feel hungry, drilnk water or sip hot tea. The liquid will fill you up without being overly fattening. If you are very succeptible to sweets cravings, check out the many low fat and healthier sweet options, like Viactiv chews, CocoaVia chocolates, chocolate skim milk, sweetened rice cakes, and so on. You can find a low fat solution to every craving.

Probably to find some comfort and relieve some stress. Food is a very powerful thing. Although, eating like that isn't always the healthiest thing. Try eating healthy snacks if you must when you get home, and avoid fatty or really sugary foods. Perhaps taking a longer route home from work and giving yourself enough time to wind down will help. You could make it a point to call someone on the phone when you come home, and talk to them for a few minutes...or make yourself read a chapter or two of a book before you eat everything you can see. Maybe it will help calm the cravings...and if not, make the snacks healthy!

You probably aren't eating enough during the day. Try to eat breakfast, a midmorning snack such as fruit or yogurt, dinner with protein and fiber and an afternoon snack like a nutrion bar or veggies. Eating something every 3 hours is a good way to help you stay fuller longer and will keep your metabolism up. If you think you might be tempted to gourge yourself when you get home pop a piece of gum or a mint in before you go in the house.

If you are not hungry it's probably emotionally driven eating/binging. You might be trying to fill a "hole" in you. You might be lonely if you are coming home to an empty house. Or perhaps frustration from work, from being under appreciated maybe following you home. The next time you get the urge to eat ask yourself if you are really hungry. If the answer is no then ask yourself what is wrong in your world right now. It's very true that it's not what we are eating is what's eating us.
Good Luck!

Probably because you haven't eaten anything for several hours and your blood sugar is low. If you eat 5 or 6 small meals a day, it keeps your metabolism and blood sugar up and keeps you from wanting to pig out. Have a snack in between meals so you're not so hungry by dinner time.

If you do not eat during the day this could be your cause. Depending on the type of work you do you probably need more meals. But you could have a week self will.
