So you're telling us that you think God is an idiot?

Look at all the believers who responded to your question with ignorant insults. Are we to believe that there is an almighty Creator of the universe...who can't manage to show himself, and whose messengers are childish arrogant ignoramuses?

(The two above me excepted - nice answers, you two. You do Christianity honor).

If there were a god, he'd most certainly do a lot better than whatever it is that you're praying to.

Given what we have learned via scientific pursuits like quantum physics, we know that reality is based and created by where our focus is placed. This has been demonstrated time and again in quantum physics experiments where the "observer" or the individual doing the experiment has inextricably influenced the result simply by being there. Consequently...

If you do not believe in god, then god does not exist. And if human consciousness survives death, which is not conclusive even with all the anecdotal evidence that has been put forward, the individual consciousness in question will create the reality it believes exists or is probable. Again. For the non believer, life after death would not include god.

There is a wonderful film which deals with the kind of constructs we create for ourselves after death called, "What Dreams May Come." Well worth a look whether you agree or disagree. In terms of the art presented, it has got to be one of the most beautiful films you will ever "watch."

It's really simple, if you think about it. If you believe that Santa will give you coal in your stocking because you've been bad, it's necessary that you first believe in Santa.

Let's say that you've reached an age in your life at which you no longer believe in Santa. Would you be concerned about Santa's opinion of you?

Of course not. Now, imagine that you don't believe that God exists. Could this non-existent God make judgements that concern you? No, just as the non-existent Santa's judgements don't concern you, the judgements of a non-existent God don't concern you either.

The difficulty that believers face is the rather human assumption that what they believe is real. For believers God is real. For those who do not believe God is not.

I think a lot of people are not so afraid of God's condemnation as they are of other people's condemnation of them. As a Christian I can say that it is far easier to stay out of church then it is to have to deal with the constant bombardment from other Christians. God says we are rebellious.

This is what I hate about my fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
They approach non-believer's with a little love,
then judgment and then all out war.
It is the same way parents approach their children. They approach the
baby with love,
the toddler with judgment and correction
and then the teenager with all out war.

We should let love carry us through all the way while witnessing to them and to tell yourself that you don't expect them to come to Christ. Because it is not for you to be satisfied in this area but God.

Let the smoker smoke and don't condemn.
Let the drinker drink and don't condemn.

For the same reason I believe that not drinking McDonald's coffee exempts me from the horrendous experience of facing the brown swill that it is.
Seriously, how can something I think of as a fairy tale affect me?
To resort to using a bellicose Americanism, What part of I don't believe in that don't you get?
The God of Christians exists for me as an abstract concept that others experience, like the flavour of chocolate, or a specific shade of green.

God's condemnation? Have you not read John 3:17? It notes God did not send his Son to condemn(law) the world, but rather that through him (through Jesus->Christ: the end of the law) the world might be saved(graced). There is no condemnation(law: 2Cor 3:9) in the God of all grace; Nor now any condemnation even to them (Rom 8:1). There is no discomfort in the God of all comfort.

There is no darkness in "that God is light" having no darkness at all. Woe to you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it to you? (Hint: 1Thess 5:3). The day of the LORD is darkness, and not light: Amos 5:18.

There is no foolishness in the only wise God.

There is no meniton of law(condemnation) in the end written:
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
(pst - the "you all" thereof notably begins with "you")

Because if God doesn't exist to you there is nothing to condemn you.

Why do people believe that not believing in the FSM exempts them from the wrath of his noodly appendages?

Probably because they feel the FSM is fictional (sorry about the blasphemy pastafarians) - that is how non-believers feel about God

If a person does not believe in God then they don't care about God's condemnation because to them, THAT doesn't exist either!

Pretty simple actually. Do you believe in what other religions tell you is the truth? Do you fear their gods and punishments or are you content in knowing that you follow the true religion?

If you believe in your religion, other people's beliefs would have no effect.

If you believe in no God, other people's beliefs would have no effect.

The fact that someone fully believes in something does not make it true. That works both ways.

For the same reason that being a tennis player exempts me from having anyone call "offsides" on me.

"Offsides" doesn't exist in tennis.

Or, as was put succinctly on a bumper sticker I saw a long time ago:

"He's YOUR God, They're YOUR rules....YOU burn in Hell!"
