Curious, I know exactly how you feel. I am in the same boat for height and weight. You are not alone.
I try and go to the gym at least 4 times a week. One of the best ways to burn lots of calories is the indoor rower. It'll burn a minimum of twice as many calories as the treadmill. The advantage is that you are getting a full body workout. You really use every muscle. You should be doing at minimum of 30 min. of cardio per day to loose weight. Getting your heart rate up is what boosts your metabolism and helps you loose weight. When I work out, I get on the rower for 20-30 min. Then I go do weight training. For almost an hour by the time I am done with the circuit. Then I do another 20-30 min of cardio. Sometimes, I do the treadmill, sometimes I get back on the rower. My routine is cardio/weighttraining one day and just cardio the next. If you are doing weight training you need to let your muscles rest the following day.
IF you are trying to have a flat stomach, WAIT to do the sit-ups until you are 10lbs from your target weight. Otherwise, you will just make your stomach hard at the size it is now, because the belly fat you have will turn to muscle. So slim down first.
When you work out: You should be sweating!
Cut out all the soft drinks and fast food. Drink water, water, water, water! If you haven't seen the "Super Size Me" documentary - Watch it! You'll never want to eat fast food again! Try the South Beach diet plan. I hear it works wonders. 8-12 lbs the first week. Buy the book or check it out at your local library. Be sure that you are eating a sensible diet, and working out regularly - you're sure to loose the weight! It will take time. Give yourself a reasonable, realistic goal to get this accomplished. Otherwise, you can set your own trap for failure.
Hope this helps!
Good luck!

You need to start eating healthy and doing a demanding cardio rutine for at least 30 minutes a day. You need to realize that cruches will not burn body fat. They work you abdominal muscles but if you arent around 11 or 12% percent body fat your abs will never show. The best thing for you to do is to loose you body fat by eating right and doing a lot of cardio before, then you can encorporate a workout plan that includes free weights into your cardio rutine. Dont be worried about free weights bulking you up. It takes a long time for anybody to get bulky. I almost forgot to tell you, avoid fast food at all cost. It will definatley give you some additional celulite.

If you continue to limit your calories and increase your activity, you are bound to lose weight.
Be sure to drink lots of water, do exercises that you enjoy enough to do in the long term and have a diet that you can stick to.
Losing weight isn't a short term activity. You need a permanent lifestyle change to make sure you stay at your new weight. Make sure that you can live with this new regime in the long run, and with patience, you will achieve your new physique.

Um, jumping jacks? Go out and WALK. Really walk, don't stroll. "Less" junk food? How about NO junk food? No fast food, NO sodas, either.
