I give my toddler echinacea oral liquid for prevention of cough and flu. U must mix it with water or juice or mulvit syrup. I also recommend probiotics to help the child's immune system. For sorethroat, try Manuka honey from New Zealand that has antiseptic before resorting to antibiotics. Garlic capsule contains Allicin (natural antibiotic) does help but it's too heaty for young children.

I was used to visit the doctor before I come to know these natural remedies.

We love Triaminic, the orange one. Please check with your doctor for appropriate dosing. It tastes good and my son takes it no problem and it makes him sleep well, an added bonus : ) For a bad cough, since no cough meds actually work, I rub Baby Vicks on his chest and back and it really helps. I always thought it was for congestion, but it is a great cough remedy as well!

The next time that you take your pre-schooler to the pediatrician, discuss this and other concerns with him/her. Get recommendations for over the counter medications and be careful because well-intended treatments without appropriate knowledge can result in tragedy. Don't let this happen to you.

Dont practice self-remedies. Please consult a doctor on the type of medication suitable for your child. Bear in mind that each child has their own set of immune system and illness, example: allergies to different medicines.
