Do you believe the prophecy saying that people would reject God enough times that God would harden their hearts and they wouldn't be able to choose him even if they wanted to?
What do think about this?

This question is only intended for those who believe that Jesus is Christ and that he was born and died for our sins. I did not ask if you believed in God or your opinion of Him. Please...serious answers only. Thank you : )

I guess I should have stated how this question was originated....I have a friend that I grew up with it who is trying to 'believe'. I really sincerely think she wants to and I pray for her a number of times daily. She has made progress and no longer thinks it sounds like "a fairy tale and fairy tales aren't real" She had borrowed my 'Left Behind' series and called me this morning saying she had read 'Armageddon', and it said that phrase was prophesied. I looked at the book and that is what the book said, I haven't heard of it except for in Pharoh's situation. Now she thinks this has happened with her. I going to call my pastor later on in the morning but I thought someone else might have know. I've been looking through the bible all morning and was looking online when I thought to ask on here. Thank you guys for you help.

Mandy, it is not a prophecy but a promise from God.
The best way to understand this is that God will 'take the light of reason from you if you continue in your errors'. For example, we will use a very controversial subject. Abortion. The fact is is that abortion is wrong, there is never any justification for it, ever.
However you will see that there are those that are "Pro Choice" and just rabid about it. They can't see logic, reason, sanity to the understanding of what life is and in their error God took their 'light of reason'.
This can be for anything, any sin. Such as those who lie alot, or steal. They slowly lose the fear of getting caught that is losing their reason, hardening of their hearts.

God did it in the Bible that Christians are supposed to believe. That same Bible says, Jesus the same yesterday, today, and for ever. So, with that said, yes I believe it and I also believe that God is all powerful and can harden a heart even before the person is born. The hardening of the heart, soul, means they won't ever want to choose God. If Christians continue to live a life not worthy, God will give them over to a reprobate mind. That means we will do the lust of our heart rather than change our will over to God's will. Once you are saved, that's not the end of the story. You must continue in the word, in John chapter one it clearly states that the word is Jesus and that He was with God in the beginning. For the record, it's not a prophecy, it's a statement. God did harden Pharaoh's heart, that is a fact of the history. Someone quoted several new testament scripture. Believe it or not, those scriptures were intended for the believers, not the non believers. There are believers who will not continue to obey! In the days of the apostles, Paul handed a believer over to Satan, to destroy his flesh that his soul might be saved. Before he went so far as to loose his soul. That is part of the problem here. Jesus did NOT come to judge the unbelievers, they are judged of God, Jesus came to judge the believers!

This is a question that goes somewhat into predestination and Calvinism.
Your question contradicts itself.
rejecting God enough times?
Wouldn't be able to choose Him even if they wanted to?
For one, they would not want to choose God, as their hearts are already hardened.
One of the arguments put forth by Calvinist state that God hardened the heart of Pharaoh. as proof that man has no free will
Yes, this is true God did hardened his heart, however read the beginning of the book of exodus and you will see that Pharaoh hardened his heart before God did, God just used this already existing choice that he made to deliver the people out of Egypt.
You may also be going into what is known as the "Unforgiveable sin" or blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
Jesus stated, in Matt. 12:32, that there is a sin that is not forgivable either in "this age or the age to come." In Luke 12:10, He says blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven at all.

I think God knows where our loyalties lie. I believe in God, always have, always will. There was never room for doubt, but I had a nice childhood & loving parents so it only makes sense to me that people that didn't have that safety & love growing up may not have the mindset for faith. We all have our own spiritual journeys to pursue. And whether or not they acknowledge it, they are children of God, we are all brothers & sisters ~ part of a larger, divine, uncomprehendable plan, the only difference is people like you and I have no doubt in a God. And that if we are good, we will get to go to heaven BUT I don't believe the actions of the non believers will affect the faithful. God bless us all :o]

Chapter and verse would help.
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

i believe some prophecies like the one you mentioned are very conveniant
no one would ever believe that the whole world would believe the same thing ... so why not just add a prophecy that says this should be expected
i agree with Gwhiz .. God wouldnt harden someones heart

I have always been taught that way...You can only get saved if God is dealing with you...I am not sure about Him hardening their hearts..but I would definetly not take a chance and except Him while He is dealing with me..

I do not believe in Jesus..but I was raised a catholic. I want you to know there is certain criteria layed down in the Mishnah Torah.
Yes I do because christians have hardened there hearts against G-D. In following false practices they have alienated them selves from G-D.
So to choose G-D is to choose Judaism.

I believe it because it is written in the bible. That may sound blind, but that's what faith is about, believing something without proof. And I've also seen this happen first hand, with my father. It breaks my heart every day, but even though he wants to come back to God, he just can't anymore.
