I had someone respond to one of my questions yesterday, and i need help with one of the items i need:

Old-fashioned Meat Loaf- A.K.A "Basic" Meatloaf
Recipe courtesy Paula Deen

1 pound ground beef
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
8 ounces canned diced tomatoes with juice
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats

It calls for quick-cooking oats... what are these? Should i just get regular quick cooking oatmeal?

Quick-cooking oats are NOT instant oatmeal. They are basically parcooked oats so that they only take about 5 minutes rather than 40 minutes to cook. You can find them in the same section as oatmeal in your grocery store and are usually sold in a bag.

most oats today are quick cooking. just use a litttle less because quick cooking are already plumped a little and the measurement would contain less oat since they are a little plumper.. regular have not expanded as much therefore you would need to add less and give them time to expand... Good luck hope u enjoy ur cookies

Quick cooking oats are just that quick cooking oats. Should be easy to find in grocery store, whether it is a store brand or brand name.

Enjoy your meatloaf.
