Most drills should be 1/32 smaller than smaller than the hole to be threaded. I'm still looking for the 32 threads per inch bolt in 5/8. Measure the depth of the threads and reduce the size by that much to get the drill size.

Not familiar with this size, but 5/8-18 is 37/64....5/8-11 is 17/32

if you use your hols for position - you can use any drill size ( but be careful - it must be smaller that other holes, and don't forget drill it to needed size)
