curried black puddings, east and west meeting on your plate... bootiful

Many years ago I was lost in a bad part of Djibouti in French Somaliland and went into an eating place and asked for "Food". I was served fried eggs with some sort of chopped onion dropped into them before they solidified, a bread roll to eat it with, (No cutlery) and a large aluminium vessel of plain water. That took some beating. The strange thing was most white people at that time and place only got a knife in their back. Legionaires moved about in parties of three minimum. I was on my own and by all the rules it should have been my last night on earth. I often ask myself- why?

A Thai dish called "Lard Nar" - it's pan fried wide noodles and egg topped with eggplant, broccoli, beef (chicken, shrimp) and a red bean gravy. Not only is it heavenly to eat, it looks beautiful when served - the purple of the eggplant and red chilli paste are so bright and cheery!

I like it with jasmine rice. Yummmm!

Sushi, Sushi-mi or just anything Japanese. Why, because it's the most delicious food ever and I feel great after I eat it...unlike red meat or foods heavy on carbohydrates.
