I've heard 100 different stories about why they are taking so long.... New deductions, EIC claims, and even the IRS being over worked! I think that they should have had this figured out before Jan.12! What do they do for the rest of the year anyway? I need some ease because I've had it with them! HELP!

You along with 72,000 others are having your returns reviewed, for a variety of reasons, Call 1-800-829-1040. The normal processing time of an electronically filed return is 3 weeks if there are no issues with the return.

Good luck!! The IRS appears to be doing what they want this year. If you claim EIC, the earliest you will hear anything will be 2/23. IF you are claiming certain deductions, the earliest is 2/16.

Maybe they really just ran out of money but don't want to tell us!!

Don't blame the IRS, thank Congress. They made significant tax-law changes very late in the last term and the IRS is still scrambling to catch up.
